In Conversation with Lucart
Tomorrow’s Care sat down with Craig Williams, Sales Director at Lucart Hygiene Ltd, to discuss its most recent innovations and how the healthcare sector can benefit from the company’s sustainable approach.
Q:
TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT LUCART AND THE COMPANY’S HISTORY?
CW: The history of Lucart is a journey that started a long time ago, when in 1953 Pasquini brothers founded in Villa Basilica (Lucca) the Cartiera Lucchese. In 1987, the company entered the tissue paper market and within two years, Lucart head office was established in Diecimo (Lucca) and the Lucart brand was born. In the following years, the growth of the company never stopped thanks to acquisitions in Europe and investments in new paper machines.
In the recent years, the Group continued its development and internationalisation plan, with the acquisition in 2016 of Bokk Paper in Hungary, and in 2018 acquired three plants of the Spanish CEL Technologies & System Group near Bilbao, dedicated to the production and converting of tissue paper and the production of soaps and personal care products. In 2021, Lucart then acquired Essential Supply Products Ltd (ESP Ltd), a well-established paper converter in the UK, with the view to develop one of the most complete paper making facilities in the UK.
Q: - 12 -
WHAT IS YOUR ROLE WITHIN THE COMPANY? CW: I am responsible for all the commercial activities
at Lucart Hygiene Ltd. I have been with the company for nearly
four years and now have the privilege of launching the Lucart Professional products into the UK. Products that have a proven track record across the Europe, offering sustainable, cost reducing options which I know are perfectly suited to the healthcare sector.
Q:
WHAT SEPARATES LUCART WITH OTHER DISPOSABLE PAPER-BASED MANUFACTURERS, PARTICULARLY IN RELATION TO THE HEALTHCARE SECTOR?
CW: Innovation is the attitude that has distinguished Lucart since its origins and today translates into cutting-edge products, through the creation of innovative solutions to better the future and respond to new market challenges.
And in this vision, Lucart Professional offers an innovative range of product for the healthcare sector with AirTech Medicleaner, a specific range of product made with Airlaid technology which uses air instead of water in the production process of pure cellulose fibres.
AirTech Medicleaner products have a special three- dimensional weave, which provides the product with an extraordinary absorbency capacity and strength, even when wet. All the AirTech Medicleaner products are dermatologically tested and thanks to their special texture, are as soſt as cotton and ideal for the towel to have direct contact with skin. They also are sterilisable and PEFC certified.
