Inspections completed for Loo of the Year Awards 2018
The Loo of the Year Awards inspection team has completed their examination of thousands of entrants’ washrooms throughout the UK for the 2018 awards.
They have travelled thousands of miles by road, sea and air, and have visited towns and cities from Wick in Scotland to The Islands of Scilly, and from Londonderry in Northern Ireland to Lowestoft in East Anglia. Early analysis of entry grading indicates some exceptional washrooms will be competing for the large range of awards available.
All inspections have been completed against the Loo of the
Year Awards criteria: are the entrant’s washrooms fit for purpose from the user’s perspective? Are the washrooms clean? Do they provide all the facilities that users require? Do they meet Building Regulations Doc M and Equality Act dimensions and the needs of users that require accessible toilets or Changing Places facilities? Do they provide adequate facilities for babies and children? Are they attractive – light, inviting and have the Wow factor? How would your client’s washrooms compare?
Judging for the range of National and UK/Ireland awards and trophies will be completed during October and the results will be announced at the 31st annual Loo of the Year Awards daytime event on Friday 7 December 2018 at the St Johns Hotel, Solihull.
The prestigious event includes excellent hospitality, a washroom suppliers’ exhibition, top class entertainment by top comedian Hal Cruttenden, and unrivalled networking opportunities among leading cleaning and FM service providers and their key customers.

Vectair Systems has launched Ecoshell, its latest non-aerosol air freshener utilising ‘clip and go, clip and throw’ technology.
Powered by natural airflow, the unique shell design is not only visually appealing but it serves a powerful purpose – to provide a large surface area for superior scent delivery, with curved vents and internal slats for better distribution of fragrance.
Ecoshell’s stylish, high-end design means it can be used in a variety of different locations and ways, using scent to bring environments such as hotel bedrooms, offices, washrooms and homes ‘out of their shell’. It is particularly effective when placed onto or near to an air conditioning vent, which further propels fragrance into the atmosphere, or attached to a floor fan to bring the air freshener to life.
The Ecoshell can be fitted quickly and easily to almost any surface using either a clip or a sticky pad. Once installed, the user simply replaces the dispenser with a brand new version using the same fixing, and it is safe and simple to install with no tricky settings to programme.
Customers can choose from three fine fragrances: Sea Salt and Bamboo, Bergamot and Sandalwood, or Kiwi and Grapefruit.
Paul Wonnacott, Managing Director at Vectair Systems, said: “We went that extra mile to create an appealing air freshener design in the form of Ecoshell, opening up new opportunities for Vectair fragrances outside of the washroom. Having two fitting options really increases its range of use, and we are excited to see its potential amongst the away-from-home aircare market.”
