Testimonials

Kevin Meighan, Sales Director at The Exclusive Services Group, one of the recently successful candidates, was fortunate to be presented with his Chartered status by The Rt Hon. The Lord Mayor of London, Vincent Thomas Keaveny, at the Masters’ Certificates event which took place at The Mansion House.

Kevin said: “When I talk to my non-cleaning industry friends about my award, they're impressed with what the WCEC has achieved. I believe over time the award will become a benchmark for the future leaders of our great industry.

“The process of obtaining the award is also self-rewarding, as you are forced to remind yourself of your activities over your career, the highlights and also the great people you've had the pleasure to work with. I felt honoured being presented with an award from the Lord Mayor at the Mansion House.”

Lauren Kyle, Head of Cleaning Sodexo UK & Ireland, added: “I’m still buzzing. Like so many people who’ve developed a career in cleaning, I only ever intended to do cleaning as a short-term, part-time role – in my case while studying at university. I never imagined that I would ultimately progress to a senior leadership role within the industry.

“Working towards my chartership was hugely rewarding. It gave me the opportunity to identify the many and varied elements of my career to date that have led me to my current role. Being presented with my certificate and badge from the WCEC was a genuine honour, with a personal toast from the Master making me feel so special, and it’s made me more passionate than ever about supporting and encouraging others to develop their careers in cleaning.”

Steve Trew, Managing Director of Greenzone, commented: “As a 30-year veteran of our industry, I was keen to participate in the new Chartered Environmental Cleaner Award scheme to recognise the journey I had been through, but also to achieve recognisable demonstration of my ongoing commitment to driving change from within by becoming a Chartered Practitioner.

“Everyone involved from the WCEC was incredibly positive, helpful, and I am rightly proud to be the 21st recipient of this fabulous award. I’d also like to thank the Company for all the hard work that went in to an amazing lunch and presentation.”

Yvonne Taylor, Global Head of Cleaning, OCS, mentioned: “Recognition in any profession is an honour, and the last two years have really shown that the cleaning industry played a large part in protecting nations across the globe.

“It was important for me to look at where my journey started and what I have achieved in my 27 years within the FM industry, and how I can continue to support the industry I’m passionate about. The process for applying for Chartered Practitioner status was easy to understand; the hard part was trying to remember all the things I've achieved over 27 years, which was quite a cathartic experience.

“When you’ve not had a job interview for more than six years, the thought of facing an interview panel after completing my 10,000-word submission was daunting, but the panel made me feel reassured, were very engaging, and also had a passion for the cleaning industry. I would recommend anybody within the cleaning industry to challenge themselves, review your career, and acknowledge your achievements in this way.”

Soo Bartholomew, Technical Director Birkin Cleaning Services Group, concluded: “Having been in the Cleaning Industry for over 30 years, learning my skills and trade from the bottom up, I felt that I had reached my career pinnacle by being a Board Director of Birkin, and Deputy Chair Elect of BICSc, so I was delighted to be in the first Cohort to receive my Chartered Practitioner Award and enter the Register and proudly use the post nominals C.Env.Cln.”

The next cohort of entrants will commence in July with introductory workshops being delivered online on Friday 15 July 12PM – 2PM and 6PM – 8PM. Please contact CPR@ wc-ec.com for more information, to register if you would like to attend, and to find out more how your own achievements and experience can be recognised.
