"The Eco Warriors’ role is to champion

environmental actions in their class, to help

reduce their footprint whilst raising money for the school."

Environmental partners

More than this, Solent Infant School became the first recipient of the new Katrin environmental campaign – to ‘plant seeds in association with Metsä Tissue’. Metsä is providing seeds along with a certificate to highlight the co- operation, and posters to put up around the school. Emma commented: “The children love the whole idea of being involved in planting their own trees, and also loved the bright posters with fun facts on them.”

Mark Dewick, Vice President at Metsä Tissue Ltd said: “We are constantly seeking new ways to improve our environmental impacts. From efficient use of raw materials, production of bio-energy through to removing single use plastics from our supply chain.

“We are thrilled to be able to work with Solent Infant School, and all schools who are aiming to teach the new generations of keepers of the environment, and we hope our latest ‘Planting Seeds’ campaign will help to maintain enthusiasm.”

Emma continued: “We loved the Katrin brand ethos and approach and Metsä’s sustainability themes aligned with our approach completely. So, we decided to go forward with the Katrin Inclusive System Toilet 800 dispensers with the Eco system toilet rolls (Katrin 103424), and Katrin Inclusive Hand Towel dispensers and handtowels (Katrin 345355).”

The dispenser rollout is still in progress at the school but will include 32 dispensers once complete. Emma added: “The Katrin Dispensers are very easy for everyone to use, from children to adults, and even have some nice features which provide extra support for less abled students and visitors.”

Eric concluded: “We have been extremely pleased with the support that CJS and the Katrin team have and continue to provide. Saving the environment is a win/win when everyone works together.”
