CHEMICALS & DOSING EQUIPMENT VERSATILE DOSING
The cleaning market is awash with ready-to-use products which contribute to overuse and wastage of cleaning chemicals. Accurate dosing of concentrates is a more economical and environmentally-friendly alternative that can eliminate chemical wastage altogether, says Jangro Operations Director Joanne Gilliard.
Selling high volumes of ready-to-use cleaning sprays to businesses should be a thing of the past – instead, high concentration, low volume chemicals should be favoured by contractors. Using concentrates not only makes economic sense, but can also dramatically cut down on all forms of waste, from packaging and transport costs, to chemical wastage through overuse.
It is true that many buyers have already recognised the advantages of switching from bulk or ready-to-use cleaning chemicals to concentrates. Once installed, wall-mounted dosing systems offer the correct volume of concentrate at the push of a button, and diluting concentrated cleaning chemicals on-site to prepare solutions for spray bottles or buckets cuts out many of the environmental impacts inherent in the supply and use of ready-to-use products. This can help businesses reach their sustainability goals, as well as potentially saving them money.

To be truly efficient and economical, concentrates should be used with specially-designed dosing or dilution tools that ensure accurate and consistent preparation of solutions. The economics of investing in expensive dosing equipment must be carefully analysed before buying this equipment; the benefits must be weighed against the potential return on investment. After all, investing in advanced chemical dosing systems does not come cheap, even if the systems are operated under lease from the manufacturer.
OTHER CHOICES There are alternative chemical concentrate dosing options available, that can increase in sophistication as a business grows and its requirements change.
