(https://www.wates.co.uk/wates-innovation-network/) G&S invest in their web presence

G&S Penrith has teamed up with award-winning Adobe- certified web developers, Aware Digital, to create a website that not only enables easy ordering, but is more informative than ever before.

The goal is to make the ordering of popular products quicker and easier on both desktop and mobile devices. The new site will contain more informative information for G&S account holders and also potential customers who may require a solution to an industrial cleaning problem.

The website launched in early 2022 and is on Adobe Magento’s commerce platform. This new, improved technology from Adobe will enable G&S to ensure they give their account holders the best possible user experience. The software will enable G&S to be more proactive and make in-house changes to various aspects of their website design without the need for a web development team. However, if development is required, they have Aware Digital on hand to offer the best possible support.

G&S has supplied the industrial cleaning industry with equipment and spares for over 40 years. Their products range from food factory cleaning equipment to sewer and drain cleaning products. Some of the more innovative products they stock include Hygiene Ultra antimicrobial hose, which has an antimicrobial cover that kills microorganisms. They supply a large range of products that have different variations and to work efficiently and properly with other products requires a good amount knowledge.

The new website aims to bring these products and knowledge together in a configured way, ensuring customers can easily select the correct combinations of products quickly, without fuss. Product pages will contain

Genesis Biosciences Genesis Biosciences has made a key appointment at its Cardiff HQ to support its research into the varying strains of bacteria used in its environmentally responsible products.

Franziska Nagel, originally from Hamburg, Germany, has been appointed as R&D Scientist at Genesis’ UK laboratories, and is already making strides in the lab, progressing studies into the attributes and potential applications of specific Bacillus strains of bacteria that Genesis bases its eco-benign solutions on.

The company’s microbial formulations are challenging the use of harsh chemical technologies, replacing the need to use unsustainable, hazardous materials across various industries including marine, wastewater treatment, agriculture, and cleaning.

Fran is an expert in bacteria research, having previously worked at the Max Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology with an M.Sc. in Biology from the University of Tromsø, Norway. Her role will utilise different technologies, including

The recent pandemic has accelerated the shift in online ordering. The investment in Adobe’s Magento ecommerce platform will ensure G&S has an online presence that’s scalable and will grow with the ever fast-changing world of information technology.

Andy Jones, General Manager at G&S Penrith, commented: “The pandemic significantly increased the number of orders placed via our website, as opposed to telephone orders. We view our site as a tool for our account holders to access information, place orders, as well as viewing our ever-increasing library of product videos. We value our distributors’ feedback, and continually reach out to them through online surveys. We aim to correct any pain points they have as quickly as possible.”

bioinformatics, to research how the bacteria like to be grown, what each strain can and cannot do, and ultimately what the potential applications may be.

Fran said: “I'm excited to be working for Genesis. They are building on the great potential bacteria has to solve problems, which would otherwise be solved with harsh chemicals that aren't sustainable.

“There is an entire world of microbiological wonders out there and Genesis captures them and utilises them in real- world applications. Being involved with a company actively looking for environmentally-responsible solutions is in line with my personal ethos, so it felt like a really good fit.”

Emma Saunders, General Manager at Genesis Biosciences, added: “We're thrilled to have Fran join us and see what she can bring to the team. Fran is already conveying her expansive experience, putting new ideas forward and developing in the lab. She is helping us explore new avenues of research in order to expand the use of bacteria in applications where chemicals have previously dominated, and we’re really excited to see her grow.”
