perfect solution when looking to save money on energy bills, and create a sustainable entrance for your building.”

Lighting As a major consumer of electricity in buildings, lighting should also be a top energy saving priority. New for 2013, The Light Box will take visitors on a journey from day to night; showcasing the latest sustainable lighting technologies as they walk through the feature. From daylighting design and energy efficient LEDs, light bulbs and Compact Fluorescent Lights (CFL), to emerging technologies such as sunlight transportation, the lighting solutions on offer should help those wanting to learn how to implement sustainable lighting that dramatically reduces energy consumption and addresses the latest environmental regulations.

Working with nature Supporting FMs tasked with estate management, the ever-popular Biodiversity Pavilion returns to this year’s event as part of a new Working with Nature zone. Designed to encourage decision makers to consider biodiversity, a raft of experts will be sharing practical advice on how to create a rich biodiverse environment, even in the grittiest urban location. Industry leaders such as CIRIA, RESET Developments, Livingroofs.org, British Beekeeper’s Association, Trees for Cities, Bat Conservation Trust, Wildflower Turf Ltd and Habitat Aid, will cover topics including ‘Biodiverse habitats

on and in commercial buildings’, ‘Supporting biodiversity through Green Infrastructure and onsite water management’, ‘Establishing a wildflower meadow - biodiversity wins gold at the Olympics!’ and case studies from the housing sector on ways communities are working with nature to improve local green space.

Eco interiors Of course, buildings aren’t just about what they look like from the outside. The latest innovations aimed to help create beautiful eco interiors will also be on display. Each solution will not only reflect the environmental aspirations of a project, but also make the most of sustainable materials – from design-driven bathroom and kitchen solutions, to lighting, wall coverings, tiles and flooring. When it comes to sustainable flooring, top suppliers Interface, Desso, Modulyss and Flowcrete will all be exhibiting. Modulyss will be exhibiting its Alternative100 carpet tiles which use 100% recycled yarn, whilst Interface will showcase two of its most sustainable products to date. Earlier this year, Interface launched Fotosfera, the industry’s first ever truly commercial carpet tile made from plant (or bio) based nylon.
