Waste Management sector on alert for Ryder Cup procurement

The UK waste management sector could capitalise on the arrival of The 2014 Ryder Cup in Scotland after Ryder Cup Europe launched its official procurement portal with contracts in a number of different categories. The 2014 Ryder Cup procurement process will be hosted

on the Public Contracts Scotland (PCS) website.

Ryder Cup Europe expects that around 5,000 people will be employed on projects directly related to the event, with many more likely to benefit through its supply chain. The PCS portal has 60,000

money is required for £25billion of new investment in the water network.

"It is inevitable that business tariffs will also increase", said Cedric Rodrigues, Managing Director of CMR Consultants. "It is important that businesses review their water costs and reduce consumption now to counter the impact of the anticipated jump in prices and the likelihood of continuing year-on-

businesses already registered and Ryder Cup Europe is encouraging companies to use the portal to ensure they hear about new contract opportunities. Contracts will appear online gradually.

year increases. This is crucial for companies using water-intense processes, such as manufacturers."

The water consultancy forecasts that by 2016, business water bills will be 50% higher than they were in 2008. This is based on an assumption that the average price increases of the past five years will continue and that inflation will rise after 2015.
