www.nicfltd.org.uk NEW PREMIER TRIMS FROM STAIRRODS
Stairrods’ Katy Herdman (pictured left) shows off the new Double Z profile at last month’s Flooring Show in Harrogate. The innotitive 'Double Z' design allows
the fitter to 'dress down' the profile, which is impossible with current solid brass trims along with a groove in the base, so one side can be
peeled off when fitting carpet to laminate. Katy commented: “It’s just like peeling off a corned beef tin; the new design has been well received.”
The Premier Trims are available in four different profiles; Double Z, Single, Square and Cover and nine finishes; standard finish being polished brass, antique brass, antique bronze and satin brass.
Specialised finishes being satin nickel, pewter, chrome, brushed chrome, and polished nickel.
Production is estimated for next month. For more information, visit

Following a highly successful DOMOTEX 2012, the organisers of the leading trade fair for carpets and floor coverings are busy enhancing the show for even more global appeal. Some 1,400 companies from 60 countries will be exhibiting their latest collections in Hannover from the 12th to the 15th of January 2013, where they will host trade visitors from more than 80 countries.
Flooring Deluxe is the central premium theme for DOMOTEX 2013,
after interest in high-quality floor coverings for homes and the contract business continues to run high. Flooring Deluxe provides the perfect setting for premium textile coverings, parquet and laminate flooring, and the showcase will feature two dedicated sections; textile floor coverings and parquet and laminate flooring.

MAGIC CARPET?
A story recently broadcast on many major news networks has revealed that researchers at the University of Manchester believe that a technology, in which tiny electronics act as sensors that feed into a computer and can spot a pattern of walking behaviour, could be used within flooring to alert carers if an elderly person falls over.
The research also suggested that the innovation could also detect deterioration in walking habits; enabling it to predict when someone is likely to trip. It works in such a way that, when the carpet is walked on, footsteps are mapped out using plastic optical fibres which sit on the underlay of a carpet.
Dr Patricia Scully, a member of the University of Manchester’s Photon Science Institute, has said the carpet could be fitted at low cost.
