POSTURITE Anthea Turner with Lucy Robinson & Kate Wright, Posturite
Posturite is an ergonomics specialist which supplies office furniture, technology and accessories focused on health, comfort and productivity. A first-time entrant in the Direct Commerce Awards it scooped the award for Best Business to Business Performance: Office & General Business Supplies.
Posturite has a 30 year heritage and is committed to improving posture as well as active working, good mental health and equality for disabled people in the workplace.
In 2021 it sold 49,000 office chairs 28,500 mice, 4,300 desks and 2,510 training courses. It added 370 new products to its online shop and processed 35,870 online orders. It had continued its pivot towards homeworking which had commenced in 2020 and developed an online ‘homeworking hub’ of resources for customers with tips and recommendations designed to improve both physical and mental health. Successful new products included a compact air purifier and a folding desk which chimed with customers working from home.
Posturite’s 120 strong team were kept extremely busy during 2021 with significant demand for office furniture and supplies, workplace services and training. Tere was a great need for flexibility in and out of the periods of Covid lockdowns. Business customers were careful with their expenditure and there was a need to keep pricing competitive and accessible.
Te vast majority of its sales came from the ‘curative’ 32
products category which comprises ergonomic chairs, desks, mice, keyboards and other office accessories which in some cases ‘cure’, prevent and alleviate health conditions such as back ache, neck pain, repetitive strain injury and shoulder strain.
It is an unusual business in that it has developed and manufactures its own ranges. Tis enables it to have a department dedicated to producing custom made products suitable for petite or large people, as well as a range to assist people who have mobility issues or are continuing to work whilst having serious health conditions.
Posturite is well known to its business customers, financial institutions, local authorities etc., for its installation services. It has also moved to a new logistics service provider in 2021 which provides a white glove service for smaller orders including those for home offices.
With its R&D teams having been consistently busy developing new pieces of office furniture and equipment for the future - which Posturite expects will see a normalisation of home and hybrid working - it is more than ready to meet demand for a constant flow of new and exciting pieces.
