Science-Based targets provide a clearly defined pathway for companies to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, helping prevent the worst impacts of climate change and future-proof business growth.


These targets are considered “science-based” when they match what the latest climate science says is needed to follow the Paris Agreement. This agreement aims to keep global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.


The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) notes that global warming of 1.5°C or even 2°C will be exceeded in the 21st century unless deep reductions in greenhouse gas emissions occur in the coming decades.


Bunzl’s emissions reduction targets have been approved by the Science-Based Targets initiative as being consistent with levels required to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement.
