37 Balances, Weighing Accessories & Moisture Analysers Rapid, reliable moisture measurement
The KERN DBS halogen moisture analyser is designed to deliver fast and reliable moisture measurements, providing consistent results with delicate samples. It uses the thermogravimetric principle, where an integrated balance measures the starting weight of a sample before the drying process begins. The halogen-quartz glass heating unit then dries the sample while continuously recording its weight, interpreting the weight loss as moisture content. This method allows the analyser to achieve measurement accuracy up to +/- 0.01%, depending on the sample size.
The analyser’s integrated balance is built with a new Single-Cell Generation weighing cell made from aluminium alloy, offering short stabilisation times and high temperature resistance. This ensures that the weighing result is indicated significantly faster compared to other systems. The KERN DBS uses infrared radiation from its 400 W halogen heater for drying, allowing for precise temperature control, making it suitable for thermo- sensitive samples. The device can automatically switch off or operate based on a set time, with temperature ranges from 50 to 200°C. Multiple heating profiles allow the procedure to be customised to specific samples, providing reliable and fast results.
Various drying programs are available for different types of samples. The Standard drying setting works well for most samples, while the Gentle drying option is ideal for substances like plastics, where gentle heating prevents decomposition. The Rapid drying setting is recommended for samples with high moisture content, and Stage drying offers an alternative to Gentle drying by pre-heating the sample to avoid damage.
The KERN DBS allows users to store up to ten customisable drying programs with parameters like drying time and temperature, ensuring repeatable results. Up to 100 drying processes can be documented within the device, and results can be transferred to a PC or printer via USB or RS 232 interface. To maintain accurate long-term measurements, KERN offers regular calibration services, ensuring reliable performance over time.
