22 Integrated flowmeter simplifies beer dispense installations
Titan Enterprises, a UK leader in liquid flow measurement, and RWC, the parent company of John Guest, have joined forces to create a pioneering flowmeter solution tailored for the beverage industry.
Since the 1990s, Titan’s beverage flowmeters - including the NSF-approved 800-series turbine and Atrato® ultrasonic ranges - have incorporated John Guest’s trusted push-fit connectors, widely used across food and drink applications. Building on this history, the two companies formed a collaboration in 2023 to develop an integrated flowmeter that streamlines installation and improves performance in beer dispensing systems.
The partnership arose from customer feedback: many users paired RWC’s PolarClean push-fit connectors with Titan’s beverage meters but faced installation challenges and increased costs due to compatibility issues. Combining their expertise, Titan focused on turbine flow technology while RWC brought its advanced tooling and connector design to the table.
Phil Lacey, RWC’s Global Fluid Tech Business Development Director, said: “Titan is the market leader in flowmeters and an ideal partner. Their professionalism made this development seamless, and we’re excited for the market response.”
Together, the teams tackled the challenge of fitting turbine technology inside RWC’s PolarClean tubing without compromising either product’s integrity. Using rapid prototyping and SLA 3D printing, they refined the design through testing and customer trials.
Neil Hannay, Senior R&D Engineer at Titan, noted: “RWC’s toolmaking expertise and open communication made this a smooth process.” Josh Smith, Project Manager at RWC, added, “This product reflects our shared commitment to quality and innovation.”
The result is the JG PolarClean Coaxial Flow Meter, which employs tube-in-tube technology to keep beer cold from keg to font without a cellar. It simplifies dispense installations with a standard 3-wire connector and provides precise flow measurement for demand monitoring in coaxial cooling systems.
Now commercialised under the JG PolarClean brand, this co-developed product showcases how collaboration can drive innovation and enhance reliability for beverage operators worldwide. Mobile app simplifies lab temperature control
Lauda Dr R. Wobser GmbH & Co KG, a global leader in precise temperature control, has unveiled an enhanced version of its Command Professional app - offering powerful new capabilities for managing lab and process thermostats via mobile devices. With expanded features and regular updates delivered through leading app stores, the Command Professional app marks a major step in the digital transformation of temperature control technology.
Originally launched as a basic tool for adjusting temperature equipment remotely, the Command app has already earned its place in research and industry labs worldwide. It allows users to monitor readings, tweak settings, and receive alerts - all from their smartphones or tablets within the company’s secure network.
Now, the Command Professional version builds on that foundation with greater control and more advanced functions. “This app reflects our commitment to advancing digital temperature control,” said Dr Gunther Wobser, President & CEO. “It offers unmatched flexibility, a modern interface, and significant functionality upgrades for professional use.”
The new app includes everything found in the free version, with major enhancements designed for demanding environments. Users can create, save, and run temperature-time programs, with the ability to store up to five profiles. Temperature data is displayed as a graph and can be exported as image files. Set points and measured values can also be recorded and exported for detailed reporting or analysis.
The app operates only within protected internal networks and all data transfers are encrypted. With two-factor authentication and digital certificates (PKI), it offers robust protection and complies with the latest Machinery Directive for lab equipment. Seamless integration with existing lab systems ensures reliable performance.
For the first time in its history, Lauda is offering a software tool via subscription. The Command Professional app is available with an annual cancellation option, enabling lower up-front costs and greater flexibility - ideal for both long-term operations and short-term projects.
Lauda’s mobile app suite is continually updated to meet user demands. New features and expanded compatibility are added regularly, with support currently available for Lauda Integral and Variocool process thermostats. Compatibility with the Universa line is coming soon.
“This app is more than a control panel - it’s part of a connected, forward-looking lab environment,” said Enrico Bossart, Head of Product Management. “With Command Professional, we’re helping customers digitalise workflows without compromising the Lauda precision they rely on.”
The Lauda Command Professional app is now available for major mobile platforms. More information online:
