Redesigned autoclave series delivers advanced, sustainable features

LTE Scientific are excited to announce the release of their newly redesigned Touchclave-Lab ‘K’ Series autoclaves. Complete with an array of new and innovative features and sustainability focused upgrades, this enhanced range is set to redefine laboratory sterilisation solutions.

The new Touchclave-Lab ‘K’ Series has been developed with efficiency, sustainability, and user convenience at its core. Key enhancements include reduced water usage, optimised steam generation, and a sleek, modernised design.

Manufactured for superior performance, improved ergonomics, and enhanced operator safety, the redesigned series introduces a range of features as standard. These features include automatic pneumatically operated powered doors with emergency stop, 20-program touchscreen control system and an armoured load probe, helping to improve efficiencies and reduce operator risk.

To meet diverse laboratory needs, the new range offers a wider selection of sizes compared to its predecessor, with standard capacities of 150, 225, 300, 360 and 450, additional 640, and 730 litre models will be available late 2025. Furthermore, the range includes pass-through models, ideal for laboratories requiring a separation between clean and dirty environments or requiring controlled workflow.

Sustainability has been central to the redesign of these units, embracing a holistic approach that spans the entire manufacturing and operating processes.

Manufactured entirely at LTE Scientific’s facility in Oldham, Manchester, the new design prioritises locally sourced components and materials wherever possible, helping to reduce transport emissions and support the local economy. Optimised for efficiency, the design minimises raw material use and wastage while maintaining superior performance. Key enhancements, such as easy-assemble panels, reduce welding requirements, lower energy consumption, streamline production, and make servicing and repairs more straightforward. While the durable stainless-steel construction reduces the number of painted panels, cutting down on chemical and electricity usage. Designed with operational efficiency in mind, the new autoclaves help laboratories reduce both energy and water consumption while maximising operational efficiency

This new range reflects LTE Scientific’s dedication to delivering innovative, high-quality solutions that align with the evolving needs of laboratories while supporting their environmental goals. More information online: ilmt.co/PL/O32B

Modular cleanroom expansion supports biotechnology production growth

Womed, a biotechnology firm based at the National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) in Montpellier, France, specialises in innovative solutions for women’s reproductive health. With a commitment to precision and quality in medical device production, the company required an expansion of its cleanroom facilities to accommodate increased manufacturing capacity.

In 2021, Monmouth Scientific installed an ISO 7 Modular Cleanroom for Womed. By 2024, rising production demands necessitated a large-scale upgrade while maintaining strict compliance with ISO 7 standards. The challenge was to complete the expansion within tight deadlines and budgetary constraints, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.

Monmouth Scientific delivered a seamless solution by leveraging the flexibility and scalability of modular cleanroom technology. The expansion involved increasing the cleanroom’s operational surface area and incorporating a changing atrium, which improved workflow efficiency and contamination control. Additionally, critical infrastructure enhancements were integrated to support the increased production requirements. These upgrades included the installation of an additional CAMT2000 unit and Terminal HEPA Filter to uphold ISO 7 cleanliness levels, alongside improvements such as coved skirting, exhaust grills, expanded flooring, a sliding door for better accessibility, and additional LED lighting panels to ensure optimal illumination.

Othmane Jaidi, Production Engineer at Womed, praised Monmouth Scientific for delivering a tailored solution that met the company’s growing needs. He noted that the modular design allowed for efficient scaling without unnecessary components, maximising both functionality and cost-effectiveness. The project adhered to strict deadlines, ensuring that Womed’s production flow remained uninterrupted, a critical factor in maintaining operational efficiency.

The successful expansion highlights the benefits of modular cleanroom solutions, offering biotechnology firms like Womed the ability to scale production efficiently without extensive downtime. By providing a flexible and cost-conscious approach, Monmouth Scientific enabled Womed to meet increasing market demands while maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and quality. The upgraded cleanroom supports Womed’s ongoing mission to advance women’s reproductive health and underscores the importance of adaptable, high-quality cleanroom environments in the biotechnology industry.

As Womed continues to grow, its expanded cleanroom facilities will play a crucial role in supporting future innovation and production capabilities. Monmouth Scientific remains dedicated to delivering industry-leading modular cleanroom solutions that empower biotechnology firms to achieve their goals efficiently and effectively.

Ductless fume hoods with enhanced safety features

AirClean® Systems’ Endeavour™ Ductless Fume Hoods eliminate the need for costly installation, ductwork, and over-built HVAC systems associated with traditional fume hood use in the laboratory. Its seamless, thermally-welded polypropylene construction means the Endeavour will never rust, providing years of service life. The rolled-entry design combined with AirZone™ baffling provides laminar flow within the cabinet, preventing eddy currents and keeping fumes or particulate from escaping the hood. All electronics and blowers are post-filter, so they are never exposed to chemicals used in the hood.

Endeavour Ductless Fume Hoods feature the easy-to-use AirSafe® NXT automatic safety controller for added operator safety. This colour touch-screen controller automatically increases or decreases blower speed to maintain the user’s pre-set face velocity, ensuring airflow is within standard operating parameters. The current face velocity is displayed at all times. AirSafe NXT also monitors the bonded carbon filtration bed, alerting the user audibly and visually should filter saturation occur.

The Endeavour features a unique application confirmation sequence that is required with every use of the hood. AirSafe NXT displays the approved chemical class for the hood and waits for a confirmation from the user before allowing the hood to be used.
