New Reagent Reservoir Saves Money and Reduces Waste
Using multichannel pipettes can streamline your assay workflow and increase reproducibility but, to significantly optimise productivity, you need to use them in combination with reagent reservoirs. Many reagent reservoirs have high dead volumes, which can negatively affect the cost of even the most efficiently run experiments. Integra Biosciences offers an ever-expanding range of reagent reservoirs to support a breadth of applications, and is pleased to announce the launch of its new 12 well reagent reservoir.
Each section is designed to hold up to 3 ml of liquid and comes with its patented SureFlo™ anti-sealing array - a series of tiny channels on the bottom of the reservoir. This means you no longer need to worry about your pipette tips creating a seal or vacuum, which can lead to cross-contamination, reduced pipetting accuracy and increased pipette maintenance. Combined with a specially formulated hydrophilic surface treatment to prevent liquids from pooling, the reservoirs are designed to offer the lowest dead volumes on the market, significantly reducing waste of expensive reagents and low volume samples.
This new reservoir is especially useful for multichannel pipetting of samples into a 96 well plate - as the 9 mm well to well spacing matches plate spacing - and serial dilutions, enabling 12 well dilutions in the reservoir or the transfer of 12 samples from reservoir to a microplate where dilutions can then be performed. The reservoir can be used with the full range of EVOLVE manual pipettes or VIAFLO electronic pipettes, either for handheld use or in combination with the ASSIST PLUS pipetting robot, and comes in a choice of polystyrene or polypropylene options for improved chemical compatibility.

New Turbopumps Provide High Pumping Speed for Light Gases
With the HiPace 350 and 450, Pfeiffer Vacuum presents a turbopump especially dedicated for applications such as mass spectrometry, electron-microscopy, metrology tools, particle accelerators and plasma physics. In addition to analytical, vacuum-process and semiconductor technology, their broad range of applications also includes coating, research & development and industrial applications. HiPace 350 and 450 provide high performance combined with low weight and a small footprint. Based on a hybrid bearing, a combination of ceramic ball bearings on the fore-vacuum side and permanently magnetic radial bearings on the high vacuum side, these HiPace turbopumps have a particularly robust bearing design and guarantee reliability. The sophisticated rotor design of the turbopumps results in a high pumping speed for light gases. High backing pump compatibility and high gas throughput as well as excellent compression for light gases are made possible by the innovative rotor design. The rotor design provides high cost- efficiency and flexibility, which allows the pumps to be installed in any orientation.
“These turbopumps are the best combination of size and performance. HiPace 350 and 450 stands for compact and powerful turbopumps in the pumping speed range of 300 to 700 l/s and an extraordinary pumping speed for light gases,“ said Florian Henss, Head of Product Management Turbopumps.
The integrated HiPace drive electronics offers a variety of communication interfaces, including ProfiNet and EtherCat without any increase in physical size. Remote and sensor functionalities allow the analysis of pump data, such as temperatures. Their quiet operation and improved gas loads are setting new standards in the vacuum industry. The pumps are certified to Semi S2, UL, CSA and Nema 12.
Bearing maintenance on-site is possible. Bearing exchange can be done on customer site. The pumps can run up to 5 years without service.

Compact Ball Valve Suitable for Heavy-duty Applications
As a fi rst shut-off valve or for connecting pressure measuring instruments, the new ball valve, model BV, is suitable for a variety of applications. It is available in process and instrument versions.
The instrumentation valve is compact and can therefore also be integrated in space-restricted environments, such as a control panel. Thanks to its robustness, the model BV is suitable for heavy-duty applications and processes with critical media. Its pressurised parts correspond to the safety factor 4:1, its leak tightness has been tested in accordance with BS 6755/ISO 5208, leakage rate A. An antistatic design, a blow-out-proof valve spindle and self-relieving valve seats ensure the safe operation of the ball valve. The high-quality processing of the inner parts also enables constant precise and smooth operation.
For the model BV, Wika offers an application- specifi c assembly with a measuring instrument. This instrument hook-up is delivered ready-to-install and leak tested.
