10 New Chemometrics Platform Transforms Complex Data into Meaningful Results

Sepsolve Analytical Ltd has announced the launch of a ground-breaking new addition to its software suite: ChromCompare+™ is a powerful, yet easy- to-use, chemometrics platform for comparing multiple GC and GC×GC chromatograms and extracting useful insights into the constituents that are present. Crucially, it offers the fl exibility to process data from a broad range of GC and GC-MS platforms.

“I am confi dent that ChromCompare+ is the fi nal piece of the puzzle for discovery workfl ows,” said Laura McGregor, SepSolve’s Product Marketing Manager. “Our innovative approach means we can reduce the risk of missing important differences between sample classes, and allow users to automatically classify unknown samples - without having to be experts in statistics.”

This is particularly valuable in discovery workfl ows, such as clinical research, food and beverage authenticity or fragrance profi ling, when analysts don’t know the important differences between sample classes, so must investigate all components, often within complex matrices. Dr McGregor explained: “ChromCompare+ allows maximum analytical information to be automatically extracted from the raw data and fi ltered down to the most signifi cant differences between samples. This not only reduces the risk of trace peaks being ignored, it also minimises the need for error-prone and time-consuming manual processing, thereby increasing the reliability of the entire data processing protocol, from start to fi nish.”

Andy Hardwick, Commercial Director of SepSolve’s parent company, Schauenburg Analytics Ltd, commented: “We believe that ChromCompare+ offers the ultimate in discovery workfl ow chemometrics. Furthermore, combining it with the enhanced separation offered by SepSolve’s INSIGHT®

time-of-fl ight mass spectrometers, means you can gain even greater insight into sample compositions, resulting in faster yet deeper, more comprehensive, end-to-end analysis.” More information online: ilmt.co/PL/5gYv

New Micro-Pump Provides Stability for Low Flow Applications

GL Sciences is happy to announce FLOM has joined the GL Sciences Group. FLOM, founded in 1990, is a specialist in producing pumps, valves and degassers. Development, assembly and quality control are all managed from their factory in Japan, making it a perfect addition to the Japanese GL Sciences group.

FLOM is proudly presenting the newest edition to their range of pumps, the Micro-Pump MP-22. The MP-22 has a fl ow rate range of 0.1-999.9 µL/min. The maximum pressure is 35 MPa. By focussing on each single component of the pump, this new pump combines all FLOM strengths in a single product.

The pump has a compact design and comes as a stand-alone version with simple controls and a small display. An RS232C port is available for external control. FLOM is happy to assist in implementing the design in existing systems or systems under development. Instead it using Check Valves the pump uses a Switching Valve. This results in extremely stable low fl ow rates.

The MP-22 is fi tted with the Linear Drive instead of a Cam Drive. With the Linear Drive, both pumps are controlled separately. The strokes are longer, which results in more powerful suction and discharge actions. FLOM believes that with introducing this pump, it is offering a solution for applications requiring a stable low fl ow. More information online: ilmt.co/PL/Yppo

Glass Autosampler Vials Virtually Eliminate Surface Activity

Reduced Surface Activity (RSA™) glass autosampler vials are not coated vials and virtually eliminate the adsorption of basic compounds found with all other glass vials. The manufacturing process of RSA™ vials produces vials without surface activity such as basic compound adsorption. Unlike ordinary glass vials, these vials will not produce a pH change with aqueous diluent over time in the vial and with minimised surface metals, it is excellent for LCMS in that it does not contribute to sodium adducts.

Laboratories testing low abundance analytes such as low dosage form pharmaceuticals, unknown unknowns and natural products will see the greatest benefi t even though all labs will fi nd these vials to have value when repeating runs or investigations must be avoided.

The vials are available from Microsolv in 12x32mm clear and amber with volumes of 2ml, 1.5ml and 300ul. More information online: ilmt.co/PL/ZJGm

New Enhanced LC Model Supports Remote Work

Shimadzu has announced the release of its Advanced i-Series liquid chromatographs. The Prominence-i HPLC and Nexera-i UHPLC systems feature pressures of 50 MPa or 70 MPa respectively and can be combined with a variety of detectors. The Advanced i-Series meets user demands for analysing a large number of samples or quickly re-processing data even when working from home.

The Advanced i-Series applies Analytical Intelligence automated features such as mobile phase monitoring for continuous analysis, a mobile phase fl owrate control function, and i-PeakFinder for automatic peak integration. Analytical Intelligence relieves operators from organisational, input and processing works as it allows systems to detect and resolve issues automatically, enabling users to easily review instrument status, optimise resource allocation and achieve higher throughput.

The Prominence-i HPLC instruments are available with UV and PDA detectors, or as detector-less version. The user can also choose between models with or without a sample cooling function. In addition to UV and PDA equipped versions, Nexera-i UHPLC is available as a method transfer (MT) system, featuring two fl ow paths for running UHPLC and HPLC methods on one instrument.

The workfl ow from start-up to the end of analysis can be carried out remotely. The great reduction in lab-based work means that, for example, an employee who previously needed to commute to the lab 5 days a week for routine work can now come in for just 2 days.

Stable data acquisition is supported by automation features throughout the workfl ow from start-up to the end of analysis, as well as a mobile phase monitor to prevent depletion of solvents during continuous analysis. Accurate data processing is also ensured, independent of user expertise.

With a built-in, intuitive touch panel, the status of the instrument and the analysis can be checked easily in real time. Providing advantages such as a stable baseline, resistant to temperature changes, the Advanced i-Series contributes to routine high-performance analysis.
