analytica 2020 extends its global reach with analytica virtual

analytica 2020, the leading international trade fair for the analysis, laboratory technology and biotechnology industry, postponed from March this year, will now take place at the Messe München trade-fair center from 19-22 October 2020.

The difficult dilemma on whether to cancel or postpone has been at the forefront of event organisers’ minds since the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) across the world. The Bavarian State Government has announced that from 1 September, trade fairs may once again be held in Bavaria in a safe and controlled environment.

A world of innovation

Today, reliable analyses are more important than ever - for controlling the global movement of goods as well as for meeting climate targets and developing new materials or medicines.

During analytica 2018 a total of 1,164 exhibitors from 49 countries presented their product innovations, including a number of world premieres, to some 35,000 visitors from all over the world. The swarm of visitors, of whom almost 40% had come from abroad, filled the halls and drove attendee numbers to a new record high. The industry’s key players meet regularly at analytica: 85% of its visitors hold decision-making positions. In 2020, scientists, entrepreneurs and users will once again come together for this leading trade show.

After the COVID-19-related postponement from March to October, there are now increasing signs of analytica being a success. From 19-22 October analytica will open its doors and showcase the latest cutting-edge technologies and laboratory innovations. In particular analytica is recording growth from European countries that have already been well represented, such as France (area bookings up by 8%), Austria (up by 10%) and Italy (up by 22%). Switzerland likewise continues to be one of the most strongly present exhibitor countries.

In total, almost as many exhibitors have registered by now as did back in 2018. analytica virtual

analytica gets a digital extension with a new analytica virtual format. This will enable those exhibitors and visitors to participate who due to travel restrictions cannot come to Munich. In addition, parts of the analytica supporting program will be available in digital form. analytica virtual will supplement the classic analytica in Munich but will be open for one additional day. With this complementary offering, analytica underscores its importance as the most important platform for the industry.

Online exhibition with virtual booths

As part of analytica, analytica virtual will be an online trade fair with virtual exhibition booths. There, visitors can view product presentations, download flyers, and contact the respective exhibitor directly via a text, audio and video chat function. The virtual trade fair will be open 24 hours a day from 19-23 October 2020. Product novelties and product innovations from all fields of laboratory and analytical technology for the target industries of chemistry, biotech, pharmaceuticals and foodstuffs are going to be presented. In addition, webinars and parts of the classic analytica supporting program are to be made available via the platform. Important events will be repeated at different times of the day to reach interested parties in distant time zones as well. One of analytica’s highlights, the special show Digital Transformation, will be present both in Munich and at analytica virtual.

analytica Exhibition Director Susanne Grödl summed up: “analytica in Munich and its digital expansion analytica virtual complement each other and continue to make it possible to present all the industry’s innovations in breadth and depth to a global audience.”

Exhibitors and visitors can now register for analytica virtual. The unique Digital Transformation show in hall B2 will demonstrate how laboratory work will evolve in the future.

In the 50 years it has existed, analytica has developed into a leading international trade fair for laboratories.
