Versatile Single Experiment Heating Block

Asynt announces DrySyn UNO, a versatile new heating block system designed to enable chemists to perform heated and stirred experiments in single flasks and vials.

The DrySyn UNO uses DrySyn MULTI inserts to convert any standard hotplate stirrer into a reaction block platform for a single flask from 500ml down to 5ml.

In addition, it also allows you to use DrySyn Reaction Vial inserts to undertake securely held heated / stirred experiments in a wide variety of different sized vials. The modular DrySyn UNO system offers unmatched experimental versatility in a small footprint.

Used in combination with a standard hotplate stirrer, DrySyn heating block units are widely proven to outperform the heat-conducting properties of oil baths. They pose a far lower fire risk and eliminate the messy and time-consuming need to remove residual oil contamination from the outside of your glassware. In addition to accelerating your chemical reactions, DrySyn heating blocks ensure a safer, cleaner, healthier working environment. DrySyn heating blocks also provide a superior alternative to heating mantles.

The solid anodised aluminium construction of the DrySyn UNO delivers outstanding thermal and magnetic transfer efficiency and the durability suitable for use in any laboratory environment.

New HPLC Column Oven Announced

Torrey Pines Scientific, Inc announces its new EchoTherm™ HPLC Column Oven Model CO20. The temperature range is from room temperature to 90.0°C readable and settable to 0.1°C.

The PID temperature control software regulates temperatures to ±0.1°C. Temperature accuracy and stability are ±0.1ºC with a stable temperature indicator lamp on the front panel that lights when the target temperature is stable to within ±0.2ºC.

The unit holds columns up to 30 cm long by ¼” or 3/8” diameter in mounting clips provided with room for guard columns and fittings. Larger diameter columns may be used by removing the column clips that hold the smaller columns. The CO20 features simple controls, digital display of target and actual chamber temperatures, an injection counter, and 30-day timer with alarm and user settable Auto-Off.

An accessory stand is available. The unit operates from 12 volts DC and comes with a bench top universal power supply for use anywhere in the world, 3-wire AC line cord for the country of use, counter cable, twelve month warranty and instruction manual. The Model CO20 is UL, CSA, and CE compliant.

State-of-the-Art Thermodynamic Power

Julabo’s PRESTO represents the state-of-the-art for modern laboratories. These instruments cover a working temperature range of -92°C to +250°C with high cooling and heating capacity. Maximum heating capacity can also be adapted to fluctuations in the mains power supply. Highly efficient components give these instruments the ability to compensate for exothermic and endothermic reactions with extraordinary speed. The PRESTO units are extremely robust and work reliably even if the ambient temperature climbs as high as +40°C. The integrated cooling machine and an internal, cooled expansion vessel absorb volume changes in the heat exchanger.

Magnetically-coupled pumps in the PRESTO units are powerful and maintenance-free. Lab users benefit from high flow rates, constant pressure, and a controlled build-up of pump pressure. Changes in the temperature-control liquid’s viscosity are balanced dynamically. Permanent internal monitoring and self-lubricating pumps contribute to the PRESTO’s long service life. The operator can adjust pump capacity by selecting one of four stages or by entering a specific pressure. Once entered, the pressure value will be maintained throughout the entire process. The closed pumping loop isolates the heat transfer liquid from ambient air, preventing penetration of moisture and oxidation. At the same time, this design ensures that the PRESTO will not emit oil vapour.

The integrated 5.7-inch industrial colour TFT touch screen is one of the identifying characteristics of the PRESTO. It gives the user a clear and well- organised view of important information while greatly improving user-friendliness. Fingertip control via the new touchscreen makes it incredibly easy to operate the PRESTO units.

International users can choose from eight different languages. Three different views of important information are provided by default and may be adapted by the user at any time.

Password management for one administrator and up to two additional levels of authorisation makes it easier to manage laboratory procedures. For example, an administrator can set common parameters in advance and then restrict other employees’ access rights so they are only able to retrieve the pre-set parameters.
