22 WATER / WASTEWATER

New generation of compact and powerful water quality meters

HORIBA Instruments have just launched their new LAQUA 200 series of handheld meters. The fifth generation of HORIBA LAQUA 210/220 handheld meters have been completely redesigned with several improvements and enhancements making it an even more compact yet powerful handheld meter.

The external housing is manufactured by a double injection moulding process, integrating two different materials into one. The external long lasting thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) offers superior grip, is impact resistant, able to withstand high temperatures and dirt or scratches are easy to wipe away. Moreover, it is environmentally friendly as it is recyclable. A meter stand is now integrated at the back and the electrodes can be attached to the sides of the meter.

All LAQUA 200 series meters feature a new LCD with bright, white LED backlighting that automatically switches on whenever the meter is being used.

The smiley icon is the annunciator used as the stability indicator which gives a quick and easy visual to indicate stable, measured readings. Electrode condition status is also displayed clearly on the screen and updated after each calibration which a useful tool to plan for replacing the aged sensor.

The 220 series, with up to 1,000 data memory, incorporates a real time clock for date/time stamping of both calibration and the data stored in memory. Both calibration and memory-data can be exported to a printer or PC.

New logger provides engineers with an improved interface and new connectivity options

Hydro International launches its new

monitoring and telemetry logger to help engineers to monitor and collect even more data for water flow, level, quality and weather in remote locations or where there is no power supply.

The new Hydro-Logic® Flexi

Logger 105 (FL105) is a major step forward in improving performance and usability from the previous Hydro-Logic®

Flexi

Logger 100 model (FL100). The FL105 uses a 4G modem that supports Long-Term Evolution technology (NB-IoT and CAT M1) and is based on the faster ARM processor. It also has 32 channels for sensor inputs, double that of the Hydro-Logic®

Flexi Logger 100.

The new logger offers improved user interface, including protected Wi-Fi access, allowing engineers to configure the FL105 logger. Where available, the Wi-Fi can be used to transfer data to Timeview®

keeps wiring and components isolated so that the battery or SIM card can be switched out safely.

Phil Collins, Sales Director, Europe at Hydro International comments, “Our new Hydro-Logic®

Flexi Logger 105 is a major step forward for the industry in improving performance and usability for engineers when recording water flow, level, quality and weather on-site. The 4G modem and protected Wi-Fi access provides users with the functionality to stay connected and record vital data from remote sites or those with no power supply, which will provide invaluable efficiencies.”

Engineers can easily upgrade FL100 models at existing sites to the new Hydro-Logic® Flexi Logger 105 as it is compact enough to fit into the standard pole top enclosure.

NivuFlow Mobile 550, from Nivus, detects the flow rate in water by using CW- Doppler-Radar. The latest hydraulic models enable highly accurate flow measurements within the usual channel shapes. Due to its sophisticated power management and rechargeable, high-capacity batteries the system is ideal for long-term measurements as well as for continuous metering without the appropriate infrastructure. Intuitive operation via a smartphone or other mobile devices in connection with a start-up wizard enable very quick and easy commissioning of the measurement system.

NivuFlow Mobile is equipped with an integrated LTE modem with worldwide coverage. The manufacturer’s consistent IoT concept provides operators with automatic data transmission including options for visualisation and logging in connection with the Nivus WebPortal. Individual alerting as well as the indication of remaining operation time in days are the cornerstone for precisely scheduled maintenance measures and failure-free measurement operation.

Like the other devices in the NivuFlow Mobile series, the latest device is designed from the ground up for outdoor use. The measurement will not be interrupted, even if the transmitter is flooded permanently (IP68). Explosion protection for ATEX Zone 1 is optionally available. Typical applications for the NivuFlow Mobile 550 are flow metering in channel networks, in irrigation channels or in tributaries and any location where standard measurement system cannot be installed in the medium.
