Water/Wastewater
Control Company's (USA) New Traceable™ Hi-Accuracy Dual Thermometer is designed to permit user one-key calibration. Unit range is –58 to 158°F and –50 to 70°C with a resolution of 0.01° and accuracy of ±0.3°C. Traceable International Standards Digital thermometer provides exact readings required for critical requirements, quality control checks, and routine measurements. Two-channel thermometer is available with one or two probes to monitor inlets/outlets, track two unique tests simultaneously, and measure temperatures in two locations.
Unit conforms to ITS-90, International Temperature Standard.
Absolute high-precision thermometer is ideal for measuring temperatures in water baths, cuvets, gas systems, reagents, incubators, wastewater, pharmaceuticals, petroleum products, foods, and when using pH/conductivity standards. The Dual thermometer records time/date for MIN/MAX readings and hi/lo alarm alerts.
Display shows MIN/MAX and current temperatures and monitors readings for any time period, displaying exact time/date when MIN/MAX temperature occurred. The alarm provides two visual (LEDs) and two audio alerts when temperature rises above or falls below high/low set points; the unit displays exact time/date when dual thermometer alarms are triggered. Alarms are programmable in 0.1° increments. Visual and audible alarms signal continuously even if temperature returns to non-alarm range.
The supplied stainless-steel probe captures slightest temperature change; the probe is triple-purpose for liquid, air/gas, semisolids. Highly accurate readings are delivered with tip penetration of ? -inch. The probe diameter is ? -inch, stem length is 6¼ inches, overall length is 9 inches, and cable length is 5 feet.
To assure accuracy an individually serial-numbered Traceable® Certificate is provided by our ISO 17025 calibration laboratory accredited by A2LA. It indicates traceability to standards provided by NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology).
The high-impact, chemical-resistant ABS plastic case is 2¾ x 4¼ x ¾ inches, with a weight of 5 ounces. The Hi-Accuracy Dual Thermometer is supplied with; a stand, Velcro®, magnetic strips, wall mounting, Traceable® Certificate, and two AA batteries and is available with one or two probes.

Research Institute Uses TOC Analyser for Hydraulic Fracturing and Oil Exploration Produced Waters
The Sievers InnovOx Laboratory Total Organic Carbon (TOC) Analyser manufactured by GE Analytical Instruments (USA), part of GE Power & Water, has been successfully deployed by the Global Petroleum Research Institute at Texas A&M University-College Station, Texas (GPRI-TAMU), for analysing wastewaters resulting from unconventional oil exploration, and hydraulic fracturing (frac), activities.
GPRI evaluates various water samples from different shale and oil producing formations using a mobile laboratory, which houses a pilot-scale treatment system. The mobile system identifies the best treatment options for frac and produced water reuse. It needed a robust and portable NPOC (non-purgeable organic carbon)/TOC analyser that could be easily incorporated into their mobile laboratory. GPRI had not previously utilised a TOC analyser for measuring water quality because of the difficulty in handling the high salts and complex chemistry of their typical samples.
GPRI decided to assess the GE’s Sievers InnovOx Laboratory TOC Analyser because of its robust Supercritical Water Oxidation (SCWO) technology that can handle tough brine samples. In addition, the InnovOx could be easily incorporated into GPRI’s mobile lab and moved around as needed for sample collection and analysis.
For more than 18 months, GPRI has successfully conducted several large scale field and laboratory studies of gas shale produced wastewaters and drilling waste. Despite the fact that the waters are very high in bromides, silica, oils, color and solids, and could contain chlorides as high as 300,000 mg/L, the SCWO Method enabled the InnovOx to provide both accurate and precise results.
“We found the InnovOx to be a very dependable TOC/NPOC analyser for both field and laboratory use, and it provided robust oxidation chemistries in difficult matrices,” said Keith McLeroy, Analytical Advisor, GPRI-TAMU. “The ability to adjust the reaction chemistry of the analyser is a very important capability to have when analysing the wide range of complex chemistries that are encountered in various shale formations and in oil drilling produced wastewaters”. “ The InnovOx successfully monitors frac flowback and produced waters from unconventional oil and gas applications. In addition, the technical assistance from the applications chemist at GE Analytical Instruments was a tremendous asset to problem solving and methods modifications.“

KROHNE (Germany) introduces the new OPTIFLEX 1100 C level meter for liquids and solids in non-explosive environments. The OPTIFLEX 1100 C offers a cost-effective and higher performing replacement for traditional level meters such as RF capacitance, conductive and pressure level meters.
The OPTIFLEX 1100 C is 2-wire, loop-powered and available with a standard 20 m cable or segmented coaxial probe for liquids and a 10
m cable probe for solids. All probes can be shortened on site and commissioning is completed via an intuitive 5-step ”Quick Setup” procedure. The OPTIFLEX 1100 C is available with an integrated display and keypad in the cover so that it is not necessary to open the housing cover for configuration. A blind version is also available. Multiple blind versions can be configured on site, using a single HMI (Human-Machine Interface) service tool.
The OPTIFLEX 1100 C uses TDR (Time Domain Reflectometry) technology. This state-of-the-art technology measures level independent from physical property variations such as dielectric constants, pressure or density. Unlike traditional meters, OPTIFLEX 1100 C does not need any wet calibration, is immune to linearity problems in irregular tank shapes and has neither fragile nor moving parts.
The OPTIFLEX 1100 C is the latest addition to the popular OPTIFLEX product family next to the existing high-precision OPTIFLEX 1300 C TDR level meter, which is used in hazardous environments such as the chemical and mining industries.
