Business News 3 Excellent Events Program at IFAT ENTSORGA 2012


A high-caliber events program is again flanking the range of products and services showcased at IFAT ENTSORGA 2012, the World Trade Fair for Water, Sewage, Waste and Raw Materials Management which takes place from May 7 to 11, 2012 in Munich. On all five days of the fair, the forums in Halls A5 and C1 will be featuring country and theme specials, panel discussions and presentations by exhibitors.


In line with the international character of IFAT ENTSORGA a number of Country Specials are being put on in the program. The Africa-Maghreb Region, Russia and Turkey will feature in three Country Specials being organised by Messe München in cooperation with the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety and the German Water Partnership. The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) is also a co-organiser of the latter. The Country Special on the Arab Regions is being carried out in cooperation with the Arab Countries Water Utilities Association (ACWUA).


In addition the partners of IFAT ENTSORGA will be turning the spotlight on a range of special themes, for example, the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, the German Water Partnership and the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research are putting on a panel discussion on the subject of capacity development in international markets, looking in particular at the involvement of German industry in education and training in water management. The UmweltCluster Bayern is also active at IFAT ENTSORGA and organising a panel discussion on "Waste to Energy" in cooperation with the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology.


The "16th International Symposium Water, Wastewater, Solid Waste, Energy" is also being held within the framework of IFAT ENTSORGA 2012. This is a joint initiative, organised by the German Association for Water, Wastewater and Waste (DWA – Deutsche Vereinigung für Wasserwirtschaft, Abwasser und Abfall) in cooperation with the European Water Association (EWA), the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA) and the Department of Waste Management and City Cleaning VKS (Verband Abfallwirtschaft und Stadtreinigung im VKU). The event, taking place from May 7 to 10 in the ICM – Internationales Congress Center München, offers a diverse trade program on themes in sustainable water and waste management.

Fincke, Vice President, were presented the US Department of Commerce’s Export Achievement Certificate (EAC) at company headquarters in Bethlehem, PA, on November 10th. The award recognises companies that have shown growth in exports, remained in good financial standing, and have benefited from the Department’s export assistance expanding their international sales into new foreign markets. Including GOW-MAC, four PA companies have received this award in fiscal year 2011.


“GOW-MAC is a manufacturer and worldwide exporter of high quality analytical instruments for those involved with the detection, analysis, production, or supply of gases within global industrial, medical and specialty gases industries,” said Jeff Lawson. Foreign exports are driving GOW-MAC’s growth. During the last 3 years, sales of GOW-MAC gas chromatographs and gas analysers have continued to grow at a rapid pace. The company’s global representative and distributor network is growing to meet the demand for instrument sales and service. GOW-MAC has continued to utilise Pennsylvania’s trade program and that of the US Department of Commerce to build on this momentum. “With assistance from these organisations, GOW-MAC has successfully developed new markets or increased sales to countries such as China, South Korea, India, Turkey, and Russia,” said Ken Fincke.


In addition to their headquarters in Bethlehem, PA, GOW-MAC has sales offices in Beijing, China and Hsinchu City, Taiwan.

Bruker Chemical & Applied Markets division (CAM) of USA, during the recent China International Food Safety and Quality (CIFSQ) 2011 conference in Beijing, media were engaged in a briefing at the Bruker facilities. Bruker’s continued and rapid growth in China is reflected in the expansion programs for Beijing’s Application Laboratories and Customer Service Centers. Earlier in 2011 the Shanghai Application Laboratory facilities were formerly opened, with a 50% expansion program underway at the Beijing facility plus an additional service and sales office planned for Guangzhou.


Date Announced for the Water Industry’s Business Platform in China


Water Expo China + Water Membrane China, China’s first water business exhibition, will take place 29 – 31 October 2012 at the China National Convention Center, Beijing, China.


The three-day show is organised by Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Co Ltd, the Chinese Hydraulic Engineering Society (CHES) and the Membrane Industry Association of China (MIAC). The event is approved by China’s Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Science and Technology, and sponsored by the Ministry of Water Resources.


Commenting on the 2012 show, Mr Jason Cao, General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Co Ltd said: “Last year’s show set new records in terms of exhibition space and exhibitor and visitor numbers. We had four halls covering 22,000 sqm, 328 exhibitors from 20 countries and regions and more than 18,000 visitors from 34 countries and regions. Already for our 2012 show, we are inviting around 30,000 trade visitors to visit our 450 exhibitors. These visitors will include central government officials and important dignitaries such as Department of Water Resources Management of Ministry of Water Resources, Bureau of Comprehensive Development of Ministry of Water Resources, Center for Rural Drinking Water Safety and 800 officials from over 20 provinces. Other visitors will include representatives from design institutes, research and scientific institutes, colleges, universities and industrial fields, project consultants, developers, contractors, water related dealers and agents as well associations, societies, chambers of commerce and the media.”
