How Sensitron uses augmented and virtual reality in gas detection

Sensitron, part of the Halma Group and in the market for 36 years, recognized as a leading name in gas detection nationally and internationally, has adopted cutting-edge digital technologies including Augmented Reality (AR) and metaverse (VR) in corporate communication. Their utiliendo is enabling Sensitron to offer an immersive and interactive experience to customers and stakeholders.

The use of augmented reality aims to enhance our customers’ experience by adopting AR to offer an immersive three-dimensional view of our products, allowing customers to explore them in detail from every angle. In addition to the product, information and technical data were also added via infographics. This allows you to use augmented reality also as a training tool, having an AR detector available simply by opening Instagram. With the metaverse, Sensitron is diving into the digital future through the creation of virtual spaces. In the metaverse, you will fi nd the “Sensitron HUB,” a comprehensive virtual environment with all the information about who Sensitron is and what it does. Here, visitors can explore product information, certifi cations and gas detection details. It is a comprehensive and interactive information center that represents Sensitron’s commitment to transparency and knowledge sharing. Application spaces representing the applications of gas detectors have also been created. Gas is a versatile element with a wide range of applications, whether industrial, commercial, marine, building... In these virtual spaces, recreated from real-world contexts, including a parking lot and a pharmaceutical chemical environment that can already be explored, it is possible to read more specifi c information about how the products are used. Sensitron is determined to stay abreast of the digital evolution and make the most of the opportunities offered by augmented reality and the metaverse to improve communication with customers, partners, and stakeholders. These new technologies complement all the ways we have communicated with customers over the past 35 years.

Sensitron SMART S series in Oil & Gas industry

63171pr@reply-direct.com

Sensitron’s SMART 3G series of gas detectors made for use in all applications enable timely and accurate detection even in the harsh environment of pharmaceuticals. This industry inludes the research, development, production and marketing of drugs and medicines, contributing to the prevention and management of a wide range of medical conditions. Within it, gas hazards are present in many processes, including:

- Manufacturing - Research - Storage

In production falls all product processing up to packaging. These processes require strict environmental control, including temperature, humidity, air quality and pressure to prevent contamination and ensure optimal conditions. Sensitron’s SMART 3G series of gas detectors, such as the SMART 3G D2, are used to monitor the presence of hazardous gases in the environment to provide early warning of potential leaks or hazardous concentrations. Similarly within a research environment such as a clean room, a sterile and controlled environment in which standards of control and cleanliness are very strict, a gas detector such as the SMART 3G C3 can monitor the correct levels of gas in the air and keep an eye on the concentration of carbon dioxide. In the pharmaceutical industry, moreover, product storage and warehousing is a key issue that requires dedicated environments designed to prevent the risk of fi re, explosion, or unwanted reaction. In these areas, some chemicals may release toxic, fl ammable or explosive gases or vapors, while others may require the use of refrigerators or temperature-controlled cells. A gas detector such as the SMART 3G C2 can monitor the potential accumulation of hazardous gases and alert in the event of leaks from refrigeration systems. To meet the diverse environmental needs and requirements of industries, including pharmaceuticals, the SMART 3G C2, SMART 3G D2 and SMART 3G C2- LD series detectors are ATEX Category 2 certifi ed for Zone 1, while the SMART 3G C3 and SMART 3G D3 detectors are ATEX Category 3 certifi ed for Zone 2.

Sensitron’s SMART S series of gas detectors are a key point in the safety of workers and environments and ensures accuracy even in the Oil & Gas industry, one of the harshest environments. This industry is divided into 3 macro-categories:

- Upstream - Midstream - Downstream

Dedicated to the detection and extraction of oil and natural gas, the Upstream includes both onshore and offshore drilling operations. This phase requires the use of specifi c machinery and equipment, which require careful use and proper preparation by workers. It is here that the fi rst hazard from gases is encountered: hydrogen sulfi de. H2S is extremely toxic, fl ammable and can cause loss of consciousness and even death even at low concentrations. Therefore, accurate and reliable gas detection is essential. The Midstream category concerns the storage, transportation, and processing of crude oil and natural gas. During this phase, which takes place through pipelines overland or large tankers by sea, gas detection is critical to ensure the safety of workers and prevent possible leaks or spills, helping to ensure the integrity of storage tanks and transportation equipment. The last one, the Downstream, includes the refi ning and processing of oil and natural gas to the distribution of fi nished products. It is at this stage that raw materials are processed and transformed until they become usable in a wide variety of areas, from fueling to heating homes. At this stage, natural gas is divided into hydrocarbons and fl uids in order to produce pipeline-quality gas. The Sensitron’sSMART S gas detector can be customized by choosing sensor head, basic board and enclosure. It can detect fl ammable, toxic, CO2, VOC and refrigerant gas, and it’s certifi ed Hardware SIL2 and Software SIL3, ATEX cat.2 explosion-proof and IS, IECEx.
