Air Monitoring 35

Port Authority of the Balearic Islands to implement a monitoring system for air quality and noise pollution in the islands’ ports

The APB (Port Authority of the Balearic Islands) recently awarded the joint venture Kunak-Labaqua the implementation of an air quality and noise pollution monitoring system for the ports belonging to the APB.

The Kunak-Labaqua joint venture will supply and install in the APB run ports 25 monitors with sensors for air quality and noise pollution monitoring.

The data will be collected and sent in real time to a software platform available to the APB. Eight new devices will be installed in the port of Palma de Majorca, replacing their current system, six in Eivissa, four in Maó and Alcúdia and three in La Savina. The APB will therefore fulfi ll its commitment to extend their plan to enhance the pollution levels at all of their ports of having started the program in Palma back in 2017.

The instrumentation supplied by Kunak-Labaqua will take regular samples continuously and calculate the average concentration of emissions and acoustic levels in a given period. The information collected will be sent to the platform in real time thanks to the incorporation of remote connectivity systems through the GPRS or 4G communications networks. The equipment will incorporate a series of customisable alarms for each parameter that will be activated when the thresholds are exceeded by the environmental pollution or noise.

This information will allow the APB to create reports and to determine any necessary actions and measures to be taken. In accordance with its environmental policy, the APB has designed an environmental management system that has recently been certifi ed by AENOR (The Spanish Association for Standardisation and Certifi cation). One of AENOR’s main priorities is the monitoring of air quality, measuring pollutant emissions in the air of the different port areas, as well as acoustic levels.

ECO PHYSIC’S neoCLD-series is ideal for many industry sectors such as the environmental, emission and process, automotive, semiconductor and medical markets. The wide application range, versatility, cost effectivity and accurate measurement capability down to ppt-level are the neoCLD’s greatest strengths. Additionally, neoCLD-series follows the standard reference method for

NOx-determination (MCERT, QUAL1). Intuitive user-friendly operation, internal data logging and multiple communication features (LAN, WIFI, RS-232, USB, Bluetooth, HDMI, analogue I/O) guarantee maximum applicability. The neoCLD-series features a graphical user interface, which also offers a remote operation and performance check of the system. A surveillance screen gives operators a live feed on the performance of every component, which enables any engineer to reduce his or her time expenditure to a minimum. The graphical user interface can also be cloned to an external PC and users can operate the instrument as if it was right in front of them.

Guardian takes control of onsite boundary monitoring

The Guardian2 Site Boundary Monitor is designed to help you remain compliant with site emission levels, using remote monitoring and reporting of noise, dust and vibration levels with an optional VOC sensor. Powered by mains, solar or battery, the Guardian2 is ideal for any construction noise monitoring or environmental dust measurement location, no matter how remote. For further details on solar or battery power options see the solar and battery power section below. Simply plug in to the power source and it will begin continuous emission monitoring, it is that simple! Data is then available in real time from our secure website http://www. casella247.com/ using a private login.

A report can be readily produced for site dust or noise compliance purposes and in addition, the system provides alerts via text message or an email should limits be exceeded.

Reports can be easily be automated and sent to multiple users. For example, one user can be receiving a report about pm10 monitoring dust levels, where another user can receive a report about noise levels.

The innovative Guardian2 is optionally equipped with a photoionization detector (PID) to measure for VOCs up to 6,000 ppm (parts per million), assessing the emissions and air quality of a site.

49979pr@reply-direct.com The next generation of air pollution monitors

Campbell Associates range of environment monitors now includes two new systems – AQY Micro and AQS 1 Mini. The new technology delivers live, accurate data for ozone and nitrogen dioxide levels straight from the box. Since the company’s founder Ian Campbell set up shop in his study over 20 years ago, Campbell Associate’s product range and expertise has constantly grown. Campbell Associate’s work in construction noise and vibration soon lead them to add Aeroqual dust monitors to their range, and from there it was an organic process to add air quality monitoring to the product portfolio. Campbell Associates are now proud to supply a market leading range of air quality monitors, from hand held units to complete monitoring systems. The latest ‘tools in Campbell’s box’ are the AQY Micro and the AQS 1 Mini Air Quality Monitoring Systems, which use specialised sensor technology to conquer the diffi cult problem of recording ozone and nitrogen dioxide levels, as two separate scientifi cally credible measurements, without the need for web-based algorithms. Campbell’s air quality specialist Peter Fleming, an expert in his fi eld is fully satisfi ed after much research, comparison and analysis that the AQY & AQS 1 deliver a new level of ozone, NO2 and particulate measurement accuracy.
