New High Performance Filtration Plates Announced

Biotage a leading global supplier of solutions and technology for analytical, medicinal and peptide chemistry, is pleased to announce the launch of ISOLUTE®

filtration plates, for the processing of samples prior to UPLC-MS/MS, alongside a diverse range of other filtration applications.

ISOLUTE® FILTER+ plates offer high performance filtration of diverse biological samples, ideal

for use with urine prepared by ‘dilute and shoot’, prior to UPLC-MS/MS analysis. Each plate contains a 0.2 µm membrane filter for particulate removal, topped by a depth filter to prevent blocking of the membrane. ISOLUTE® offer improved workflow compared to filtration vials or syringe type filters, and allow high throughput filtration for UPLC analysis.

FILTER+ plates

The new plates are designed to prevent sample particulates from reaching the UPLC column, protecting the analytical system from particulate build up over time. Increased back pressures due to particulate accumulation necessitate frequent downtime for replacement or regeneration of the expensive columns. The filtration membrane is wettable, eliminating the need for pre-wetting, and narrow plate outlets direct sample flow into the collection plate without sputtering, eliminating cross talk between samples.

ISOLUTE® (e.g. Biotage®

FILTER+ plates can be processed using 96-well compatible positive pressure manifolds, (e.g. Biotage® VacMaster™ 96) and automated liquid handling systems (e.g. Biotage®

volume) can be processed using this product. “Requiring no method development, ISOLUTE®

increasing productivity,” said Dr Claire Desbrow, Global Product Manager, Analytical Chemistry, Biotage. 42847pr@reply-direct.com

Laboratory Fume Hood Line Provides Protection for Every Application

HEMCO UniFlow Laboratory Fume Hoods are the most complete line of fume hoods in the industry. UniFlow AireStream low flow high performance fume hoods feature an exclusive all composite resin construction that is chemical resistant, flame retardant, lightweight, and meets UL 1805, SEFA

1, Ashrae 110, and ANSI Z9.5 standards. These hoods have a moulded one piece seamless composite resin interior fume chamber that has all coved corners and is white for superior light reflectivity. Available in sizes from 30” to 96” wide and in depths of 24” to 48”, and in CAV (air bypass) or VAV (restricted bypass) models. A wide selection of accessories and services are optional to meet exact user requirements.

Other UniFlow Fume Hoods are engineered and built for specialty application such as perchloric acid that has either a type 316 stainless steel or PVC welded one piece interior fume chamber including work surface and rear drain trough, acid digestion that has an HDPE welded one piece interior fume chamber including work surface and optional rear drain trough, radioisotope that has a type 304 stainless steel welded one piece interior fume chamber including work surface, and trace metals that has a polypropylene welded one piece interior fume chamber including the work surface. Each of these fume hoods would still have the composite resin exterior superstructure in lieu of traditional painted steel.

Support base cabinets, heavy duty tables and either epoxy resin, phenolic resin or stainless steel dished work surfaces are offered to complete the UniFlow fume hood installation. Additional lab furniture can be designed with the fume hoods including sinks, faucets, wall cabinets to complete the laboratory.

New Dengue NS1 Antibodies for Lateral Flow Applications

Pressure+ 96) vacuum manifolds, Extrahera™). Typically, sample volumes of up to 1,500 µL (total FILTER+ can be integrated quickly and easily into routine workflow, reducing sample transfer steps and FILTER+ high performance

Dengue Virus is endemic in tropical countries worldwide. It causes an insect-borne (mosquitoes) infection that manifests as Dengue Fever. However, it can progress to more serious conditions including hemorrhagic fever. There are 4 serotypes of the virus and all are capable of causing disease. A non-structural glycoprotein (NS1) is produced during acute infection and can be found at high levels in patient serum.

ViroStat has released several new monoclonal antibodies to the NS1 of Dengue virus. These antibodies recognise the NS1 protein of all 4 Dengue serotypes and have recently been validated for lateral flow immunoassay rapid detection methods.
