54 Trusted Innovation for the Laboratory on Show at Arablab 2017
Systec GmbH, will be presenting the highlights of its comprehensive product range on stand 515 at ArabLab 2017.
Systec autoclaves can be used in all laboratory applications, including challenging sterilisation processes. All Systec autoclaves can be expanded with options and equipment on a modular basis. Systec autoclaves can be equipped with a vacuum system that entirely removes air from products during the sterilisation of solid bodies and waste. The integrated Superdry drying system guarantees complete drying for solid bodies after sterilisation. Systec has developed its Ultracooler as a new kind of cooling system for sterilising liquids in bottles which reduces the cool-down time by up to 90%.
The Systec H-Series laboratory autoclaves are are large horizontal autoclaves designed as front-loading, standing autoclaves. The standing autoclaves,
available in 16 sizes with a chamber volume ranging from 65-1580 litres, are compact and lightweight despite their high loading capacity.
The same is true for the pass-through autoclaves in the Systec H-Series 2D, which consists of 13 models with chamber volumes ranging from 90-1580 litres. These autoclaves are specially constructed to be installed in separating walls in a gas-tight manner, and are equipped with two doors.
Additionally, Systec will be showing models in its compact Systec V-Series, consisting of top-loading vertical autoclaves (40-150 litre standing autoclaves), which stand out for their low space requirements and tall usable height, as well as products from the Systec D-Series, front-loading horizontal autoclaves (23-200 litre tabletop autoclaves), which offer an optimal loading capacity for most standard - medium bottles and Erlenmeyer flasks.
Visitors may also learn about the Systec Mediaprep media preparators (7 sizes, 10 - 120 litres) for quickly and easily manufacturing and sterilising microbiological media.
Another key focus is the Systec Mediafill system for automatically filling media in petri dishes and tubes. The device, which includes 3 stacking carousels for up to 660 petri dishes, offers simple and intuitive operation via a 5.7” touch display. The integrated database of pre-programmed petri dish dimensions allows the user to select a petri dish with the push of a button. Filling and stacking is also automated, requiring no intervention by the user. Integrated peristaltic pumps ensure media is dispensed precisely and allow for the addition of additives.

Asynt has produced a new report that compares the thermal performance and advantages of vacuum jacketed versus non-vacuum jacketed reaction vessels.
Data is presented for vacuum jacketed and non-vacuum jacketed reaction vessels connected to a Julabo Presto A30 temperature control system. The report demonstrates that a vacuum jacketed vessel not only achieved faster rates of cooling but was also able to maintain a reaction at -20°C compared to just -15°C for the non- vacuum jacketed vessel. Beneficially, also using a vacuum jacketed vessel was shown to eliminate ice formation on the outside of the reactor glass (a common problem with non-vacuum jacketed reaction vessels), allowing continuous viewing of the reactor contents.
By reducing heat loss / gain a glass vacuum jacket enables faster rates of heating and uses less energy to cool the system, thereby enabling lower temperatures to be achieved than reactor vessels without a vacuum jacket. The report concludes that using a vacuum jacketed reaction vessel will allow you to optimise thermal performance thereby improving control of reactions. In addition, the report proposes that the small additional cost of a vacuum jacketed vessel is easily justified not only by
the additional performance but also by the cost saving of being able to use a lower powered temperature control system.
Vacuum jacketed reaction vessels are available as options for the Asynt ReactoMate Pilot (5-50 litres) and for the Asynt ReactoMate Datum (100ml - 5 litres) reactor systems.

40569pr@reply-direct.com Bench Top Chamber Furnaces Achieve Excellent Temperature Uniformity
The Carbolite Gero CWF laboratory chamber furnace range comes in three sizes, and with the choice of maximum operating temperatures of 1100°C, 1200°C and 1300°C this general purpose chamber furnace range has a temperature to suit your process.
The furnace’s high powered heating elements provide a fast heat-up rate and the graded side elements optimise its power to ensure excellent temperature uniformity. Precise repeatable temperatures are delivered by a digital PID temperature controller.
The CWF’s double shell construction maintains the outer case temperature in accordance to the international standard BS EN 61010 while a soft closing parallel action door keeps the heated surface away from the user.
The small outer cabinet size makes the Carbolite Gero CWF general purpose chamber furnace an ideal choice for laboratory bench tops.
Standard features include: 5, 13 or 23 litre chamber volumes; Carbolite Gero 301 controller, with single ramp to set-point & process timer; delayed start / process timer function as standard; hard wearing alumina element carrier, furnace entrance and hearth; free radiating thick gauge FeCrAl wire elements with gradient pitch for optimum temperature uniformity.

Alicat Scientific has engineered a new mass flow controller with its highest top flow rate suitable to a wider range of applications. The MCRH can accommodate flow rates of up to 5000 slpm, without compromising speed or precision of gas control. The highly stable controller manages industrial processes with more chaotic upstream fluctuations, such as control of industrial combustion gases, or mass flow into food and packaging processes.
The MCRH 5000 slpm precisely and rapidly controls mass flow rate, volumetric flow rate, or back pressure of gases in high flow processes. To overcome the poor turndown ratio and slow response of existing methods (such as interlinking a meter with an external valve) Alicat designed a new flow geometry. This new design accommodates the higher flow rates, with a low pressure drop of 14.1 psig at full scale. A dual valve design enables a fast 100 millisecond control response time without significantly raising instrument power requirements.
The instrument’s Gas Select firmware includes a library of up to 130 preloaded gases, user selectable in the field. The MCRH 5000 slpm can be programmed with the instrument’s push button menus and onboard display, or via remote connection. Digital communications options include RS-232 or RS-485 serial, Modbus, or PROFIBUS, as well as analogue 0-5 Vdc, 1-5 Vdc, and 0-10 Vdc, or 4-20 mA.
