Laboratory Products 37 New Website Compliments Fresh Product Range and Branding

Astell Scientific, leaders in sterilisation since 1884, are pleased to announce the launch of their new website at www.astell.com. Following recent corporate branding changes and the release of a new-look autoclave range, the new website combines these elements into a dynamic online platform suitable for browsing on modern digital devices.

The website employs a bold and simple site structure designed to enhance navigation and showcase the full range of sterilisation products available to customers, whilst also hosting important resources for dealers and service/repair enquiries. There is also a new Product Finder tool available to help visitors find the right autoclave, and better social media integration with feeds offering the latest news and tips.

Astell Sales & Marketing Director Dave Thomas commented: “Our new website is just one of a number of changes we have made recently as we continue to focus on growing both our UK and international business. Customers in the market for an autoclave, steam generator or Effluent Decontamination System should make astell.com their first port of call.“

Astell Scientific’s new-look autoclave range is now available to order. For more information and to experience the new website visit www.astell.com.

New App Monitors Laboratory Freeze-Drying Processes in Real-Time

ADVERTORIAL

Measure and Control Flow Directly at the Temperature Control Unit

A new mobile App designed for real-time temperature and pressure parameters monitoring during the freeze-drying process for laboratory lyophilisers has been developed by Telstar. This new software has been customised for the Lyobeta and LyoBeta Mini lab freeze-dryers which are the standard and compact versions of a twin-vessel pilot-scale freeze-dryer designed for the field of experimentation and research and formulation, developing recipes for pharmaceutical freeze-drying processes.

Developed by the Telstar R+D department, the new mobile application has been created to monitor the freeze-drying process in real-time, being able to constantly monitor temperature and pressure parameters. The software has also incorporated a mobile alert which warns the user of any problems, enabling the user to react accordingly. The new app for Lab freeze-dryers, designed to run on Android devices at the moment, will be developed for mobile IOS in the near future.

Taking advantage of the customer’s internal wireless network capabilities any Android-based portable device will be able to remotely connect to the equipment once the LyoBeta freeze dryer has been connected to the customer’s internal network. The current version of the app provides one-to-one equipment connection but multiuser connection capability, so the user can only be connected to a single freeze dryer but any freeze dryer can accept more than one user connected. In addition, the app provides a standard list of alarms/ notifications that will pop-up during the process offering the possibility of configuring a desired alarm related to almost any process variable listed.

The LyoBeta range encompasses flexibility, high performance, and small foot print required in a laboratory unit, as well advanced process control systems, management software and interface features. It is therefore considered one of the most complete and efficient pilot units on the market. In addition to the standard range, LyoBeta Mini is a new compact version which offers an external condenser with a capacity of 6 Kg located separately from the product chamber.

Telstar will be present at Arablab in Hall S1, Booth 558, exhibiting some of the latest developments in process equipment solutions for laboratories and research centres.

Huber Kältemaschinenbau offers a variety of measuring equipment for installation in the temperature control circuit in order to measure and control the flow rate. The flow rate can be displayed directly on the controller and can be requested and/ or set through the digital interfaces (USB, RS232, LAN and optionally RS485, Profibus). It is also possible to control the flow rate using flow on an Unichiller or Unistat equipped with an integrated VPC bypass or external VPC bypass. The flow meters are available in different designs; depending on model and temperature control device. They cover flow rates between 0.2 and 750 litres per minute and working temperatures from -125 to +425°C.

The flow measurement devices can be used to complete basic tasks, such as determining kinetic/dynamic features of reaction syntheses and crystallisation, inspections of heat quantities and scale-up testing. Unistats can also be assigned. The new E-grade ‘Explore’ allows Unistats (only) to display or request the current system capacity (heating/cooling), as well as of the temperature differences, and is therefore perfectly suited to developing and optimising chemical processes.

TEMPERATURE CONTROL INTELLIGENT

New Quick Disconnect Coupling for Temperature Control Applications

Temperature control units are usually connected to the application (e.g.

reactor) using insulated temperature control hoses. If it is necessary to frequently change applications with a temperature control unit, using quick couplings can be helpful.

Huber Kältemaschinenbau has developed new quick couplings which fulfil the special requirements for temperature control technology and reliably prevent thermoregulation fluid leaks. The quick couplings ensure only minor pressure drops and good heat transfer. If pressure-sensitive glass equipment is being used, an optional adapter can connect a pressure relief device. An ATEX 2 permit for zone 2 is available upon request.
