Almac Group obtains ISO certification for safety and environment management

BASF Plastic Additives announces price increases

Effective immediately, or as existing contracts permit, BASF will increase prices for products in its additives portfolio for plastic applications globally by up to 20 per cent. The company says the price adjustment is primarily required due to significant volatility in pricing and availability for essential raw materials and the rapid escalation of freight rates. The business is part of BASF’s Performance Chemicals division which also includes Fuel and Lubricant Solutions, Kaolin Minerals, and Oilfield and Mining Solutions.

Contract development and manufacturing organization Almac Group has been awarded ISO Certifications for its Integrated Health, Safety and Environment Management Systems under the ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards. The achievement follows an extensive virtual auditing process performed by the National Quality Assurance (NQA) certification body over a three- day period involving a range of virtual tours, presentations and an extensive review of Almac’s integrated management system. NQA determined that Almac demonstrated “a clear commitment to meeting the highest standards of HSE and accountability throughout the business” and that the company was fully accountable for ensuring these standards were maintained through integrated and standardized policies and

procedures. The certification covers Almac

Group’s provision of research, development, innovation and contract manufacturing services by each of its facilities based at its global headquarters campus at Craigavon in Northern Ireland, which employs over 3,500 individuals. The integrated framework gives all managers and employees guidance and support regarding the management of HSE, from identifying and handling risks, to evaluating and continuously improving processes and is continually updated and improved through regular assessments, reviews and internal audits. Almac Group’s HSE team is currently progressing the programme to extend the scope of both ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 to several of its European sites.

Brenntag Food & Nutrition and Axiom Foods in South American distribution

agreement Brenntag Food & Nutrition in South America has formed a new distribution agreement with Axiom Foods for its range of plant-based proteins in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, and Peru.

With this agreement, the two companies said they are committed to offering to the food industry allergen-free vegetable proteins and dairy alternatives to produce food, beverages and nutraceutical, from cereal

bars to pasta, ready-to-drink products (RTD) and non-dairy yogurts. Some ingredients used to manufacture Axiom products include rice, peas, oats, and sacha inchi. Brenntag said the new distribution agreement confirms its commitment to continue providing “excellent customer service” by strategically expanding product ranges to meet current and future market trends.
