East Midlands Energy Summit has green focus
A sustainable and low-carbon economy will be top of the agenda at the 2020 East Midlands Energy Summit this month. The free online event on
Thursday 19 November will explore how Government, businesses, academia and civil society can come together to ensure clean growth can underpin the local economy in the post-Covid era. Hosted by the Chamber and the
University of Nottingham’s energy innovation and collaboration team, it will look at the potential of the region to play a central plank in the Government’s “Build Back Better” plans. The Summit, sponsored by
Connect 4 Group, will include a range of keynote presentations, panel discussions and Q&A sessions. They will explore national policy driving and supporting change; regional opportunities and self-sufficiency; how business costs
can be reduced; creating new business opportunities; and innovation in energy products and services. The event is aimed at senior management, business owners and decision-makers from all sectors, as well as policymakers, local authorities and those working in any field in, or aligned to, the energy sector.
Speakers include:
• Andy Nolan, development and sustainability director at the University of Nottingham
• Rt Hon Kwasi Kwarteng MP, Minister for Business, Energy and Clean Growth
• Sir John Peace, chairman of the Midlands Engine
• David Johnson, plant manager and site redevelopment manager

• Elizabeth Fagan, chairwoman of the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership
• Prof Seamus Garvey, director of dynamics at the Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre in Gas Turbine and Transmission
Systems at the University of Nottingham.
