APPOINTMENTS Four legal rising stars qualify at Roythornes

Four new solicitors have qualified at law firm Roythornes Solicitors after completing training contracts. Emily Wright, Rebecca

Ironmonger, Shola Khan and Naomi McFadden join Roythornes’ cohort of legal experts across its corporate and commercial, litigation, and private client teams. Naomi, who secured a training

contract with Roythornes after graduating from the University of Liverpool, will join the Nottingham office. She said: “I am delighted to have completed my training contract and qualified into the Nottingham private client team. “The Roythornes team has been supportive throughout my training and I had the privilege of working with real experts in the field in each of my seats. I was given

responsibility from the very start and all my colleagues invested their time and expertise in providing me with top-class training.” Emily takes on her newly- qualified role at Roythornes after completing her LPC at BPP

University Law School, Cambridge. She re-joins the corporate and commercial team after working as a paralegal before starting her training contract. Emily said: “It has been a long road to qualification, and I am very

proud of the achievement. “I would not be the solicitor I am

today without the support and encouragement of my fantastic team, and I feel very privileged to have worked alongside some excellent lawyers during my training.”

Senior appointments at Shakespeare Martineau

David Orton and Hannah Tomlinson

XCLUU adds to the team

A Leicester-based marketing support service designed to support micro and small businesses across the UK has appointed two senior managers during the Covid-19 lockdown. XCLUU has welcomed managing director Dave Orton and head of marketing and operations Hannah Tomlinson to the team. Dave said: “I have seen the

idea behind XCLUU unfold over the past years and to now have the opportunity to grab the reins from Gemma and take it forward on a day- to-day basis is really exciting.” XCLUU founder and CEO

Gemma Orton added: “XCLUU’s vision has always been to make professional marketing support affordable for micro and small businesses. The lockdown period gave us time to reflect on our vision, as well as the opportunity to strengthen the XCLUU team. “Both Dave and Hannah are

incredibly well respected and it’s an absolute honour to have them with us.”

18 business network November 2020

Law firm Shakespeare Martineau has announced four senior appointments and promotions at its Leicester office amid a raft of changes across the company’s national network. Louise Ingram (pictured) is one of three senior legal

professionals to move into a new level of membership – a similar structure to the partnership for other law firms, but with access also open to non-legal staff – after being promoted from preferred to ordinary member. Armed with more than 15 years’ experience, she specialises

in bringing forward commercial and residential developments by working with landowners, promoters and developers. Louise said: “I enjoy working with clients, particularly to bring

forward strategic sites. It’s like piecing together a jigsaw – waiting to find out what the overall development picture will be.” Town planner Brian Mullin has also been promoted to

an ordinary member, the top level of equity membership. He has more than 15 years’ experience in local Government and the private sector, and is a chartered member of the Royal Town Planning Institute. New partners joining the firm include Tom Ansell taking the role of team leader for residential conveyancing and Daniel Jennings, a commercial litigation specialist who will lead the litigation team in Leicester. CEO Sarah Walker-Smith said: “I’d like to first of all

congratulate those who have been promoted and thank the entire membership for its passion and commitment to our growth ambitions, and dedication to excellent client service. “At Shakespeare Martineau, the most important

thing for us is to ensure the right person is in the right role. We aspire to be a leading example in the sector by adopting a more inclusive mindset, opening the opportunity for inclusion in the membership to all our people – recognising hard work, commitment, individuality and experience. “2020 has proven challenging for the entire

business community, but our people have certainly risen to this. The honest, open-minded and proactive approach by everyone in the firm has placed us in a strong position as we emerge into the ‘new abnormal’.”
