Business Banking & Finance Why I’m optimistic about
commercial finance

A
s we enter the colder and darker months toward the end of a long, difficult year,
there is a lot of uncertainty in the finance world. It’s hard to be absolutely sure of
the long-term economic effects in the lending market of the Covid-19 pandemic, but I think there’s a lot to be optimistic about right now, and I’m feeling good about the medium and long-term future of the sector.
Resilience & rebuilding While there have undeniably been challenges, I’ve found the
commercial finance market to be encouragingly resilient across the year so far. Even during the national lockdown, I had clients moving ahead with projects, making plans they could put into action as soon as they were able. Those who were more cautious
in the initial months of the pandemic are now working hard to catch back up, and I’m sure much like ourselves other brokers are currently very busy working through backlogs of projects that are back in motion after going on hold. The last eight weeks has seen an
uplift of activity around development and bridging enquiries
