Faircracker FALL 2020

Spotlight on Associates RMA PRESENTS As we all know what was to be an exciting 2020 season

turned to disaster rather early. Some fairs prior to the pan- demic were lucky to be held. RMA Presents, Inc. was blessed to celebrate our 17th consecutive year in January at the Manatee Co. Fair and a very special time. Long time fair manager Dan West was the first FL fair to book a show with RMA which was John Conlee in 2004. Dan has moved on and is now leading the Federation and will do a great job moving us forward. Fair board member Pat Kennedy was also recognized for his continuing dedication to their annual Contemporary Christian concert night. Along with concerts by Restless Heart, Unspoken and Tony Jackson, a Veter- ans Celebration Day was held featuring country star Darryl Worley and Iraqi POW Jessica Lynch, the first American female to be rescued in captivity. Worley has made several trips to entertain our troops with his song "Have You Forgot- ten." Lynch gave a heartwarming account of her life joining the Army to become a school teacher and her capture and rescue. It was on to the Martin Co. Fair February 16 for award

winning country supergroup Sawyer Brown show. Fair Man- ager Jay Spicer, president Chester Edwards and their fair committee put together a well planned concert area with ticketing choices of VIP, reserved, general admission or bleacher seating and restricted beer garden. With their plans being delayed to move to a new expanded location in 2021, we look forward to celebrating one more year at the same location. Abruptly, our season ended on Friday March 13th when I

received the call from Wayne Howard at the Firefighters' Indian River Co. Fair that everything was being shut down. Fortunately, both the Mark Chesnutt and Shenandoah shows have been rescheduled for their 2021 fair. The Bucky Covington show at the Citrus Co. Fair is also being rescheduled for 2021. And we must congratulate long time fair manager Hal Porter for his induction into the 4-H Hall of Fame. As we continue to be optimistic for the future, let's hope

we all get back to doing business as usual as soon as pos- sible for the upcoming fair season. That would make us all feel better. And with any luck, we will all be able to reunite at the

proud the

2021 con- vention as members of FFF.
