Keep your community moving - Covid -19

The COVID-19 situation is obviously impacting the way we live our lives right now. However, we're here to remind you that the best way to stay happy and healthy during these trying times is to set time aside and get active every single day.

Practicing social distancing and listening to the Government recommendations is obviously crucial at this point in time, and safety always comes first. But it's also important to remember that we all need to find ways to keep active.

Although the opportunity to be active at School isn’t available currently, use what you have at home to keep moving. We’ve seen some great activities taking place in gardens across the County, do keep sharing these.

To help you stay safe, active and healthy, we've put together a list of activities that you can do in your own living room or in your garden and these are on our website www. wiltssport.org.uk. Still need more ideas then go to the biggest physical

activity movement at this time - #stayinworkout from Sport England. https:/www.sportengland.org/ stayinworkout

We also have plans to still give everyone the opportunity to take part in our Big Schools Sports Day, Virtual Wiltshire School Games, even if this won’t be taking place at Marlborough. You’ll find details in this edition of Relay, page 10 and activities you can take part in at home will be released shortly.

We all share a collective responsibility to our communities to practice social distancing in order to help keep our loved ones safe. But that shared responsibility also means safely getting active every day in order for everyone to keep happy and healthy.

WASP are keeping Wiltshire Moving

Social distancing is a new term that we have all had to learn – and a very important one too. But it also means we have all had to find new ways to stay in touch with our local communities – our neighbours, friends and families. This can be tricky, but finding safe ways to share experiences is more important now than ever.

Another challenge that everyone is facing is how to keep our bodies and minds active and healthy. The best way to do this is by exercising every day in your own home or your local

neighbourhood. But it can be difficult to think of things to do or to keep motivated, and sometimes we all need a bit of help with this.

At WASP, we believe that the social media we use every day can play an important part in meeting both these needs. That is why we have made it a priority to keep people across Wiltshire connected and active through Twitter, Facebook and Instagram with our ‘Keep Your Community Moving’ campaign.

There are some really fantastic things

going on across the county and we share these regularly so that you can find them, try them, share them and comment on them. We also have lots more activities for every age and activity level, and you can find these on our website http://www.wiltssport.org.

And the really great thing about this campaign is that everyone can help! If you try out an activity, or think of one yourself, share it with us by tagging @wiltssport or #keepyourcommunitymoving. If you are a teacher, coach or volunteer, let us

know what you are doing to keep your community moving so that we can help spread the word.

You can find us at @wiltssport on

Twitter, Facebook or Instagram, or you can search for the hashtag #keepyourcommunitymoving. We look forward to seeing you there!
