EQUIPMENT REVIEW 29

Floating dock T

he Marina Division of the System Group has introduced a floating dock with a frame made of

stainless steel according to UNI EN ISO 1461. The concrete floats consist of

cement blocks with a polystyrene core that has a density of 15 kg/ cu m. The blocks are for marine use (high dosage of cement), with various size aggregates, reinforced with structural polymeric fibre adequately mixed in various sizes, and a metallic net. Four threaded A2 stainless steel rods are used to connect each float.

Decking is made of 20 mm thick,

hard and naturally durable exotic wood with superficial flutes. It has a central section fixed with stainless steel bolts to the EN- AW-6060 T6 aluminium alloy structural components and two removable lateral sections, which enable access to the lower part of structure and any systems that may be installed. As an alternative to timber, wood plastic composite slats can be used. This material is a mixture of 70% sawdust and 30% polypropylene; it does not release pollutants and can be completely recycled at the end of its useful life.

Docks are joined together using neoprene blocks, tightened with stainless steel bolts. As an alternative, hinges bolted to the heads can be utilised to make the connection. Two robust lifting eyebolts for anchoring docks to mooring piles are positioned on every head. Eyebolts with stainless steel rings or mooring cleats of various sizes, depending on the type of vessel to be moored, are positioned on both sides.

Finger piers can be attached

to the docks at spaces of half a metre. System Group info@systemgroupmarine.com www.systemgroupmarine.com
