THE FIRST WORD

Welcome to this month’s edition of Business Network – the largest to date at 104 pages. As ever, plenty has happened since the previous month’s magazine – both in

terms of Chamber activity, the wider political world and, of course, the activity of our members. From a Chamber perspective, we recently launched our exciting Generation Next

initiative to a packed house at the Hilton Hotel at East Midlands Airport. Generation Next is all about supporting the business leaders of the future and ensuring our region both attracts and retains the top talent to the benefit of our business landscape and the communities we serve. Government-wise, there has been significant activity, not least with the HS2 announcement and the proposed points-based immigration system. But what does all this mean for businesses in our region on the ground? We cover the bases in this edition. March’s edition has a Legal theme and we speak with Gateley’s Partner and Head

of Employment Law Andrew Macmillan about the changing employment law landscape and what the future holds for the sector, while this month’s focus feature looks at the opportunities and challenges emerging on the Legal landscape. Importantly, in the first 35 pages of this edition of Business Network we also take

the time to acknowledge you, our members, and showcase your hard-earned recent wins and work. And finally, as well as the physical copy of the magazine, did you know that Business Network is also available as an app? A convenient way to have each edition of the magazine – as well as past editions - available to you at all times. Just go to your app store and type in Business Network to find and download.

Best wishes, Nathan Fearn Editor, Business Network
