Fundraisers to show off their best moves
Maxshow supports LOROS Hospice
Maxshow Ltd has announced LOROS Hospice as its charity of the year. LOROS Hospice cares for
over 2,500 people across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. It provides free, high- quality, compassionate care and support to terminally ill adult patients, their families and carers. In support of LOROS,
Maxshow Ltd has pledged to donate a minimum of £1 for every customer order despatched during the next few months. The company will also be
giving away 300 LOROS scratch cards to customers, with the chance to win up to £1,000, with the purchase costs already being donated straight to LOROS.
Chamber patron Gateley Legal is partnering with Ultra Events to run a charity ballroom competition to raise money for Hope Against Cancer and LOROS Hospice. The event sees professionals
from across the Leicestershire business community receive eight weeks of dance training free of charge in return for fundraising pledges. Organisers hope to raise over
£30,000 during the charity event, which will culminate with a glittering black-tie ball at the King Power Stadium on 2 April 2020. Martin, 58, and Laura, 33, decided
to sign up for the Leicester Ballroom Glitz event to make a real difference to those living with cancer. Laura said: “As Fundraising Manager for LOROS, there seemed little chance that I would escape from signing up. However, out of all the fundraising activities that I get involved in, this is by far the most daunting. “Every day at LOROS I get to see
the incredible difference we make to the lives of people who are living with cancer and other terminal diseases. It’s shaped me as a
person, and I've learned more about compassion, kindness and empathy in the seven years that I’ve been here than most people learn in a lifetime.” Fiona Debney, Legal Director at
Gateley Legal and Chair of the Fundraising Committee, said: “This is an opportunity for people to step out of their comfort zone and try something completely different. The money raised will go direct to two fantastic cancer charities in the region, to support those living with cancer and to fund the research into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the disease.”
