T
he latest advance in floating breakwater technology from SF Marina is the Type BW1000 unit,
which is 10 metres (32 ft) wide, 3 metres (10 ft) high and can be joined together, creating whatever length is required. The solid cast design and massive
weight of 250 tonnes, combined with the width and depth of the structure, allows the system to protect marinas, harbours and waterfront locations experiencing
larger and longer waves. The system can be moored on heavy chain or steel piles and can be configured with all services necessary for leisure craft of different sizes, including superyachts. Type BW1000 units are produced in the company’s factory in Gothenburg, Sweden, and can be delivered throughout the world. The first installation of the new breakwater has been installed at Skärhamn on the West Coast of Sweden where a high quality, mixed

‘Zero emissions’ utility vehicle
Made in Italy by Plus Srl, the T-Rex is an innovative electric utility vehicle designed to meet a need for ‘zero-emissions’ delivery of goods, mail and other items to boat- owners at their berths or small tools and replacement parts to boatyard staff. The T-Rex features a broad
platform where goods weighing up to 100 kg can be accommodated
and it can be used to tow a matching cart that measures 110 cm x 70 cm, thus adding a further 250 kg/500 litres to its load capability. Due to its tight turning radius of 60 cm, the vehicle is easy to change direction on a floating pontoon without risk to the operator. Transmission is by timing belt and
once fully charged, the T-Rex has a range of 50 km with a standard
battery or double that distance if fitted with an XL battery. The steering column is fully
collapsible for easy transport or storage and the hydraulically- controlled disc brakes ensure short braking distances even when the vehicle is carrying a heavy load. Marina Planet
