SERVICE PEDESTALS 13

New products launched by RMCS D

uring the previous 18 months, a revolutionary new metering system has been trialled and tested by

Marina and Holiday Park Solutions Ltd (RMCS) in conjunction with its Spanish partner (Gsertel), which is part of the Televes Corporation based in Santiago, Spain. The Triton system has been successfully installed at marinas across Spain and Turkey for some years. However, as both the hardware and associated software had been updated and enhanced, RMCS considered that it was the right time for the system to be subjected to a rigorous trial and test regime. In July, 2019, the first UK order

was placed for the Triton Metering System by the 300-berth, family-run Farndon Marina just outside Newark in the English Midlands, which is owned by Paul Ainsworth. RMCS was commissioned to undertake a full refurbishment of the site, including all service bollards, cable and water pipes, to modernise the aspect of the marina. The remote metering system

features office-based software and mapping that allows the marina management full control over the 300+ berths, as well as access to daily reports on electricity used and credit in the system amongst its many other features. The marina operator also chose to utilise the Triton complete with an interactive display and RFID system, which allows users to simply select any service in the marina that is available and switch on/off their electrical supplies with the aid of a reusable card system. The screen also displays KW/hr usage, together with remaining credit, and for those users with smart ‘phones an iOS or Android app is available giving them the ultimate experience and by a simple log-in they can simply turn on/off services. As long as a user has credit and services are available, they can moor in any location and remotely access the system; e-mail and text alerts are also possible for a wide range of features. For those concerned about water usage, Triton can also be used to meter water from a half- inch supply to four inch connection,

making it a versatile and cost-effective solution for the modern marina. This new system from RMCS differs

from many metering systems currently available, with the payment from berth-holders going directly to the marina operator’s account. There are no recurring fees from

RMCS, whether monthly or annually, and at this time RMCS is also in talks with suppliers of Marina Management Software to provide a complete package. Triton can also communicate via a GSM Sim, a Wi-Fi mesh or cable

system or a mixture of all these options. This makes it versatile and simple to retro-fit in existing service pedestals when communicating to the office package; it is also one of the few systems where it can truly be deployed over multiple sites with remote access to the pedestals.

NEO pedestals In addition to the above hardware and software, whilst on a trip to Spain and following a mutual agreement at METSTRADE in Amsterdam last

year, RMCS has now joined forces with a Spanish manufacturer to market its service pedestal in the UK and Ireland, as well as through the RMCS international dealer network. Stuart Baines, Managing Director of RMCS, saw NEO pedestals in place at several marinas in the Galician region of Spain and was impressed with their sleek design complete with an access door and use of anodised aluminium, and decided that the range would sit well within the current portfolio of his company’s products. This new range will be populated with sockets and switch gear to each client’s individual requirement at the UK manufacturing facility with the extrusion being supplied by Torretas Guadiana. Stuart Baines said, “The style of the unit blends in with the range of aluminium products we currently manufacture and with the door we can provide a product that is truly IP-rated for some of the harsh climates we sell our range to. The unit will sit nicely alongside our current portfolio with an SOS station also available”. He concluded that by joining forces with Jose and his team in Spain, both companies would be able to assist each other in the market place at this time by offering a range of top quality yet affordable products.
