BUSINESS REPORT

WRITING THE RECIPE FOR BUSINESS SUCCESS

Businesses who plan make less mistakes, grow faster and are more successful than those that don’t. According to Simon Warnford-

Davis, director at ProfitPlus, this equates to having the right ingredients for your recipe when cooking. A starting point is knowing your numbers. Do you know your costs and expenses? Your margin per product or solution? Analysing and understanding this will help you

understand the ingredients for success. Next, prepare your recipe. Create

strategies around your financial targets and business goals for the next quarter and year, and work towards these on a regular basis. Consider turnover, profit, percentage increases on last year, staffing requirements, margins, sales plans and marketing budgets. At the same time, you need to create your strategy, behaviours,

attitudes and tasks, both for you and your team, ensuring the ingredients are perfectly blended. Now it’s time to cook! Implementing your plan is straightforward if you are focused – concentrate on the targets, track your numbers and adjust accordingly, managing issues and variances as you go. Don’t forget to delegate to your team, make them accountable and an integral part of the process. As you would keep an

eye on the hob or check the oven while cooking, ensure checks and reviews are conducted on a regular basis. Weekly, monthly and quarterly are sensible timeframes. Follow this process and create

the perfect recipe for success you and your business deserve. In time enjoy your just desserts of an efficient, thriving, more profitable business.

A visualisation of one of the new Conference Events spaces at Whittlebury Park designed by Hira Hospitality Interiors

FEBRUARY/MARCH 2020 inbusiness 9

and 15 syndicate rooms, all of which are included in the refurbishment. The project will see the rooms upgraded to introduce modern and functional fixtures and fittings as well as entirely bespoke elements and inviting colour schemes. The meeting spaces that will be upgraded vary in size, but each room will have its own new look and feel. Whittlebury Park commercial director Marc Webster said: “The aim of

this significant project is to give our clients what they’ve told us they want from a meeting space, as well as responding to industry trends. We understand conference facilities need to progress with changing needs and the new look and feel of the spaces will achieve this. “We’re paying close attention to the small details as well as the

overall visual appeal of the rooms and we look forward to welcoming new and existing guests back to experience the difference.” Whittlebury’s flexible purpose-built conference and event spaces

can cater for small meetings of 20 people to a conference for 500, and all delegate packages can be made bespoke.
