BUSINESS REPORT The team at CG Labs

TRAINING THAT IS NOT A WASTE

A firm that launched just over 18 months ago is already delivering waste management training and providing a consultancy service to some of the biggest names in the UK. AllEnvironmental Training &

Consultancy was launched in May 2018 by Andy Childs and Tanya Lazzeri, who have years of experience of professional development in the waste management industry. It specialises in waste

NEW BRAND FOR FIRM AT THE CUTTING-EDGE

CG Labs, formerly Iris Group Aero, based in Milton Keynes with offices in Norway, UAE and South Africa, have signalled their intentions for the future by announcing a significant shift in their core business and rebranding to CG Labs to more closely align with their parent company CG Holdings. CG Labs now focus on

transforming the products and services of traditionally analogue companies into digital ones, using cutting-edge technology. Services include: events, industrial services, security, facility management and agriculture, among others. Ground-based and drone capture

methods, including photogrammetry, laser scan, thermal and hyper/multi-spectral

sensors are transformed to provide the customer a digital solution that is easier to access and manipulate, saving clients time and money. This will allow clients’ marketing, FM, training and commercial teams the ability to use cutting-edge technology to increase their department capabilities. Security products

include proven and effective solutions to detect, track and mitigate rogue drones, biometric imaging, perimeter solutions and much more.

Director David Cummins said:

‘INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY

WILL BE UTILISED WHEREVER AND WHENEVER REQUIRED’

“Innovative technology will be utilised wherever and whenever required to provide optimum results. This will also be evident with the services and training that we provide, such as our own in- house learner management

system that hosts accredited and

certified courses.” CG Labs are ISO 9001 and ISO 14000 certified and

registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

Clare Suttie

A world-class certified translations agency has improved their staff’s quality of life and dramatically boosted productivity by moving to a four-day working week. Atlas Translations made the

transition to a shorter week last summer and are thrilled with the results. They were inspired by research

from the likes of Henley Business School, which showed moving to a four-day week improved staff’s mental health, lowered stress and boosted productivity. Director Clare Suttie said: “We

are one of those companies that set trends rather than jumping on bandwagons, so we decided to implement the four-day week last summer and see how it went. “Bearing in mind we also had

annual leave to cover, we very quickly established a system that allowed the four-day week to work

seamlessly. Our project managers quickly got up to speed with each other’s client-base. So much so, the annual leave seemed to go by unnoticed. “A bonus side effect of the four-

day week meant sickness was easily covered. Unforeseen absence can be stressful when one is dealing with another’s workload if the client is not particularly familiar to them. Now, most of our clients know the team rather than just one individual. We still have a project manager allocated to each client to oversee a project, but each project manager has a sub-project manager so it all works well. “The four-day week also works

incredibly well from a financial performance perspective. This last financial half year, Atlas has been at its most profitable in a decade.”

characterisation including hazardous waste assessment, as well as legislation and guidance impacting on the management, disposal and treatment of waste. The company supports

SMEs, multinational organisations and public bodies and its clients include The Royal Mint, McCain’s, Sellafield, Balfour Beatty and local authorities. It has also secured a two-year contract with an executive non-departmental public body sponsored by the Department for Environment and Rural Affairs.

‘AFFORDABLE, QUALITY, ACCREDITED IN- HOUSE TRAINING’

Tanya said: “Our ambition

was to offer affordable, quality, accredited in-house training and bespoke courses. Most of our training is accredited so it’ll be included in our clients’ continuing professional development. “Most small businesses think

once their waste company has taken away their waste there’s no need for them to worry about it, but that’s not the case. Businesses need to check whoever is taking away their waste has the correct documentation and they know where their waste is going. “Our main accredited

courses are compliance, hazardous waste, waste legislation and auditing because they’re the courses which help businesses to remain compliant, reduce waste and save companies time and money.”
