had never before seen, I could barely pull away from the slides to sign books. It seems I was running into everyone I

fans. I also want to thank Chuck Leavell and Wesley Griffith for hooking me up with tick- ets for the concert. Thanks guys. On the way into town, Joey and I

dropped by Orange Street and the MU Press office to score our reserved parking pass and lanyards from young Heather Comer. We parked near Capricorn in the reserved area and hoofed it through the freezing cold. Once inside, I did a quick look around at Capricorn before meeting Marsha, Mary Beth and Jenny from Mercer University Press on the second floor for a book signing with fellow Mercer author and former Road Manager for the All- man Brothers band, Willie Perkins. Just be- fore heading up, I ran into Chuck Leavell who was being interviewed on camera just in front of the elevator. Chuck would act as musical director for the all-star concert on Tuesday. Tonight, was a private party for the

supporters of Capricorn, so I felt honored to attend as an author. There were all sorts of heavy hors d’oeuvres to be enjoyed, as well as wine, beer and soda. I grabbed a few tidbits and a beer and joined Willie at the table, where we signed books for the next few hours while a slide show was projected on the screen to our left. I was like a kid at Christ- mas. So many photos from the hey-day that I

knew and I wanted so badly to stop and talk but I knew I was there to sign books, and most of us just spoke briefly. Great old friends like Paul Hornsby and Randall Bramblett, who was performing on the first floor (along with the Robert Lee Coleman band), Alan and Tosha Walden, Mark Pucci and Glen Halverson, Kyler Mosley, Moon and Nesie Mullins (Moon was Road Crew Chief for the original MArshall Tucker band) photogra- phers Sidney Smith and Herb Kossover, Richard Brent and his wife from the Big House, and I finally met Bunky Odom, David Pinkston (Capricorn engineer) and some of the others from Capricorn history. I was very happy to finally meet Pat Armstrong, the man who worked with Lynyrd Skynyrd early in their career and was manager for the original Molly Hatchet band. Pat is working on a Southern Rock documentary with a couple of other guys for PBS and I have been asked to participate. Of course, I am thrilled. After 12 years of phone calls, Skype

calls, and emails, I finally met my buddy Robin Duner-Fenter in person! Rob’s dad, Frank Fenter, was co-founder of Capricorn and I think the world of Robin.

Randall Bramblett entertained Monday night.
