four-room hotel. Talk about exclusive! Jenny the owner redefines “Southern

hospitality,” and went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure our happiness. There’s just something special about the fact that Jenny’s family owns the farm and grows all of these wonderful vegetables served in the café. Fresh from the farm to the table. I like it. I had a difficult time choosing what to

eat, but since we were there as guests of Rose- mary, I followed her lead – she is vegetarian. Her husband, not so much! I got the Straw- berry Spring-mix salad of leafy greens and microgreens topped with strawberries, ap- ples, grapes, cranberries, pecans, feta cheese and raspberry walnut dressing. ($10) I opted for the scoop of chicken salad on the side (for an additional $4) Talk about fresh! So, good. Rosemary’s husband ordered the Pork Steak, and it looked and smelled delicious! After my book signing in Concord,

Rosemary Bunn (the Librarian from Zebulon who had invited me down for the book event) and her husband took my pal Scott Greene and I to a small restaurant nearby in Molena, housed in an old- a very old- building that now serves as a B&B and café. As we walked up the sidewalk leading to the establishment, we heard live music coming from the Tipsy Daisy next door. An acoustic artist was singing the Allman Brothers “Midnight Rider.” Yes, we were in the right place. Later, when we left, we heard him singing a Black- berry Smoke song! Inside the Wild Daisy is beautiful, and

it was decorated for Christmas with a true old South sophisticated charm. The small, quaint restaurant is situated with a hotel above it (a

everyone, from appetizers to desserts. I heard from someone that their Pimento Cheese ap- petizer is excellent. Enough pimento cheese and crackers for four people for $10. The stuffed mushrooms looked good too. There are soups and salads, Parmesan Chicken, Old Fashioned Meatloaf and many more choices. When it comes to dessert, the Daisy

would be hard to beat. Jenny always has a va- riety of sweet treats. Although I was already full, I just had to try one. I struck a deal with Scott. We would order one and split it. Choco- late cake like you’ve never tasted. Positively sinful.

My advice is if you are planning to be

anywhere near the proximity of Molena, make plans to enjoy a meal at Wild Daisy. Just be sure to make reservations ahead of time, as the small restaurant fills up quickly!
