Benjamin Atha was born in Holbeck, Yorkshire. He attested in the 1st or King’s Dragoon Guards in December 1810, and was wounded in the knee whilst serving as part of the Household Brigade at Waterloo. He was discharged as medically unfit, 14 December 1816, and died in September 1831.

No rank given on medal but the only John Harrison present at Waterloo with the 16th Lancers was the Quartermaster, appointed on 25 January 1810, promoted to Lieutenant on 25 January 1816, and placed on half-pay 25 March the same year.
