Our Upbeat Times friends Sue & Jim Decker in New Zealand. Jim and Sue own & operate Double Decker Lanes in Rohnert Park, California. They sent us this photo after a three week vacation away from a very busy schedule! They are at the top of the Ben Lomond trail just outside of Queenstown. About Ben Lomand Trail: The most popular path up to the summit of Ben Lomond is the Tourist Path, which starts at Rowardennan car park. Ben Lomond track is a challenging track with a 4717 foot elevation gain of the walk. For the first segment, the track begins at the Douglas fir stands via the Skyline Access Road and takes you through the alpine tussocks and shrubs.

You can experience magnificent lake and mountain views as you climb up the saddle. The track gets more challenging from here and the walk requires an advanced level of fitness as the last push towards the top of Ben Lomond is very steep as it approaches the summit at 5743 feet. At the top, you'll be rewarded with exceptional views and on clear days, you can spot Mount Earnslaw/Pikirakatahi and Aspiring/Tititea. The walk is approximately 7 miles long, and can take 4 - 5 hours to complete for the average walker. The path is steep in parts, and can be challenging to less experienced walkers. Its a must visit for the adventurist!
