for local news Subscriptions to regional and sector newsletters produced by Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce (GBCC) have increased significantly this year. ChamberlinkDaily, which carries 10 stories a
day produced by the GBCC’s press and PR department, leads the way with more than 14,000 subscribers, who receive the bulletin at the start of every week day. Of the regional bulletins, the Solihull
newsletter reaches over 2,000 subscribers every week, closely followed by Sutton Coldfield at more than 1,500. Other regional editions are produced for Chambers at Burton and District, Chase, and Lichfield and Tamworth. The leading sector-specific publication is the Future Faces bulletin, which is produced by manager Anna Assinder and goes out to over 1,200 subscribers every week. Other newsletters are distributed to members of the Asian and Transatlantic Chambers of Commerce while there are dedicated online publications for Chamber Policy and the GBCC International Business Hub. John Lamb, the GBCC press and PR director,
said: “Every one of our newsletters shows an increase in subscribers each month. We feel this demonstrates a healthy appetite for local news that is not now being entirely satisfied by traditional newspapers or their online counterparts.” In addition to the online publications, Chamberlink magazine, distributed to all GBCC members free of charge, regularly reaches a news-packed pagination of over 90, demonstrating its appeal to advertisers.
