Broadstone Fun Day Committee Seeking New Chairman


After co-founding the Broadstone Fields in Trust Association (BFiTA) with Tony Fisher in 2011, I was proud to set up the fi rst Fun Day in 2012 to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. I have chaired this association since this time along with the Fun Day committee, which meets from January to August every year to plan and run the annual event.


I told the committee that I intended to pass the chair to someone new before we held the most recent event and I am hoping someone will be prepared to take it on, so that we can build on the success of the event.


I plan to stay on the committee, but with my new role as Leader of BCP Council along with a number of other community positions, it is simply not possible for me to give this the time and energy that it needs.


We work to a fairly simple pattern, so processes are all in place and the handover should be quite straightforward – but I am happy to have a coffee with anyone interested prior to a formal proposition at the next committee meeting.


The 2020 event is booked for Sunday 5th July and it would be great to have a few new people on the committee.


Some sponsors have already come forward, but more are needed to ensure the event covers its costs and we raise something towards the BFiTA fund.


I will be happy to retain the chair of the parent group so we can preserve and enhance our parks and welcome any suggestions of how we might use some of our funds to make improvements.
