Welcome to the November issue
Well the gardens have certainly had a good watering recently! I do hope it dries up a little so we can get out and enjoy what’s left of the autumn.
I was interested to read that Sainsburys is no longer selling fireworks in its stores. November 5th tends to mark the beginning of a fireworks season lasting a couple of months and the Neighbourhood Policing Team (pg46) would like to remind us how to stay safe, and legal, during this time.
You might be starting to think about Christmas later this month, the lights are being switched on outside the Methodist Church from 6-7pm on Friday 29th November (page 70) and we have printed a guide to the last Christmas posting dates on page 51.
Our advertisers are certainly starting to think about it: The Goods Yard has various Christmas and New Year’s events on (pg5) and Carpet Barn (pg9) is offering carpet delivery and fitting before Christmas. If you are looking for a gift for a loved one, why not consider an art class with Seasons Art (pg8) or a voucher for Avanthills Aesthetic Clinic (pg 27). Alternatively, visit Forum Jewellers’ Black Friday sale (pg23), see the new retail canopy and range of plants at Chestnut Nursery (pg58), or pop in to see the gifts available at Sturtons & Tappers (pg15) in Wimborne. If you prefer to make a gift to charity, the Cards for Good Causes shop (pg71) is in Broadstone Library and Julia’s House makes a passionate plea for your consideration on pages 60-61.
Lytchett Minster School is advertising with us this month (pg33) and is keen to promote its sixth form open evening, and also its popular series of university-style lectures, which are open to the public. Historians, TV presenters and professors have spoken in the past. This month, drugs and blackholes are the topics under discussion.
Until next time, Karen Remembrance Parade details, pg62 In this issue...
