Kitchen Trends For 2020

Nothing stands still in the worlds of fashion or technology and these forces of change drive kitchen design ever forward.

Whether you own an apartment or a period property, a new kitchen with carefully considered fi ttings, work surfaces and the latest appliances can be transformative. If a new kitchen is on your horizon, here are two incoming trends to consider for 2020 and beyond…

Colour

Understanding the effect of colour on the mood and even the geometry of a room can be a head- scratching experience, but the reward for getting this right is an enjoyable space that comes alive in sunlight but also holds its own under artifi cial light.

Grey in its many shades remains popular. But grey isn’t just grey; it’s an expansive library of shades from cold battleship to rich, welcoming tones that tease more vibrant pigments. Greys also open opportunities for pairing with bold coloured or chrome fi ttings and soft furnishings as sophisticated accents.

For 2020, colour is key. According to the top fashionistas, greens hues are at the forefront. Look out for Neo Mint – a new colour that’s gently calming, yet full of youthful optimism. It works exceptionally well with whites and pale greys. Sage Green is also high on the trending agenda having a heritage feel and an easy-going nature.

Seeking a full-caffeine hit? Cassis has pinks and purple subtly conspiring to make this a big trend- setter for 2020 and beyond, while Purple Wave could easily be your poison.

Appliances

Advances in technology also offer exciting new opportunities in

kitchen design. German appliance powerhouse AEG recently launched ComfortLift – the fi rst dishwasher in the world that lets you gently slide and lift the lower basket upwards to a comfortable working height.

Further innovations can be found in their latest Assisted Cooking ovens. Simply select what you want to cook and the oven automatically sets the cooking time and programme. And, by using the probe in the centre of a joint of meat, you can tell the oven exactly how you want it done, taking the risk out of cooking expensive cuts for dinner parties.

With knowledge of these trends you will be able to create a kitchen that is both highly functional and pitch perfect stylistically, no matter if your goal is adding value to your property or simply realising the dream kitchen you have longed for.

A skilled kitchen designer will have an appreciation of your property’s character, allowing the latest trends to be integrated

cohesively whether your aspirations lean towards architectural minimalism or a cosy-yet-on-trend shaker look. All styles, colours and the latest range of appliances are on display in Caro Design’s showroom in Poole. The team will be happy to show you the range of possibilities for your project.
