Its construction was the result of a massive effort in- volving thousands of work- ers.


Local delivery person and friend of Upbeat Times, John Follansbee...(to the right holding paper at the Hoover Dam) sent us this photo last year meant for October 2018, and it never made it in the paper! What makes this art unique is the fact it was designed entirely with old Upbeat Times as a paper mache project with his friend David Garton. These works of art stand six feet tall and were recreated from a four-inch tall statue (inset)! ~ Great Job David & John! Paul Doyle

Originally known as Boul- der Dam from 1933, it was officially renamed Hoover Dam, for President Herbert Hoover, by a joint resolu- tion of Congress in 1947.


A small business owner was dismayed when a brand new corporate chain much like his own opened up next door and erected a huge sign which read BEST BLACK FRIDAY DEALS. He was horrified when another competitor opened up on his right, and announced its arrival with an even larger sign, reading LOWEST BLACK FRIDAY PRICES. The small busi- ness owner panicked, until he got an idea. He put the biggest sign of all over his own shop. It read... MAIN ENTRANCE.
