Kingsteignton Town Council

Councillors work as volunteers for the good of the town

Kingsteignton Town Council Offices are situated upstairs from the foyer of the Community Hall in Rydon Road. The office is open during weekdays Monday to Friday between the hours of 9:30am – 12:30pm. Should anybody be unable to climb the stairs to reach the offices, a telecom system is sit- uated on the wall to the right-hand side of the front door, which during office hours will be answered by a member of staff who will then come down to assist you. An adjacent car park is available for visitors and hirers of the hall and its facilities. The staff are headed up by Town Clerk, Mrs

Carol Lakin who is a long-standing member of staff who joined the Council back in 1995 when it was formerly a Parish Council, prior to the move to become a Town Council in the year 2009. As the town has continued to grow so have the demand of services within the Council, therefore in May 2018, Deputy Clerk Mrs Michelle Lewis-Clarke was appointed to work alongside Carol. Staff members within the office also include, Mrs Shirley Sim- mons who has been appointed to Communications Officer (formerly Admin Assistant), Mrs Caroline Lowe who is Office Assistant and Mr Phil Banner as Finance Officer. The maintenance and care of the Community Hall and grounds, Clifford Park and Oakford Lawn is undertaken by Caretaker, Mr Dave Turner and Assistant Caretaker, Mr Mick Hedges. The Town Council is assisted by 13 Town Councillors which include the Mayor, Councillor Dave Rollason and Deputy Mayor, Councillor Beryl Austen, all of whom work as volunteers for the good of the town and its residents. We offer newly refurbished premises for hire:

The Community Hall which holds up to 100 people and is suitable for parties, weddings, christenings, dancing, fitness classes, presentations and large meetings. A fully functional kitchen adjoining the Community Hall can also be shared with hirers of the MHS. The MHS (Mary Hall Suite) is a meeting room for up to 40 people which has a built-in projector and retractable projector screen. Situated

within the grounds we also have the facility of the Rydon Room (portacabin) accessed by a couple of steps. Free of charge parking is available for up to 27 cars (including disabled and parent/child marked bays).

Our grounds surrounding the car park are laid to

grass with a few trees and a lovely old stone apple press which was kindly donated to Kingsteignton Town Council by the Kingsteignton Twinning Associations Twinners of Orbec, France, which marked their tenth anniversary in 1989.
