Open grassland between Sandygate Mill and Higher Sandygate, provides green space for children to

play with a stream running down through

alongside a pathway linking the estate to the lane leading to the Sandygate Inn, an old inn with origins dating back to the 16th century, located on the old Roman road, which offers a choice of local home cooked food.

Clifford Park A 3 acre recreational area situated to the rear of

the Royal British Legion with gateway access from Longford Lane and also from Coronation Road. A pathway runs through from one gate to the other as well as leading through to the children’s playground in the far corner. This park is currently under review for regenera-

tion. At present there is an enclosed playground for young children, a MUGA (Multi-use games area) for ball games and fitness/exercise equipment for users of 14 years of age and upwards. There are benches for relaxation, some of which are within a tree shad- ed area.

from Rydon Road, Little Barton or Hestow Road. The Fountain

This park is maintained by Kingsteignton

An area located at Oakford Cross, in the heart of the ‘old Kingsteignton Village’.

Over the last

few months, this area has been under regeneration by the Town Council. Following complete clear- ance of the area, a level paved area now spans from the wall to the surrounding pavement. A new tree features in the centre within an ornamental tree guard, sign posting, ornamental lamps, plant troughs, cycle racks, benches, bins and an old Telephone Box (noticeboard), have all been placed to enhance the area and make it a pleasant place to stop and have a rest. In bygone years the troughs which were by Lord Clifford

unveiled on 12 November

1887, once provided water for cattle, horses and dogs.

To celebrate the year 2000, the second

Millennium, Teign School students assisted artist Jane Hutchings to create the beautiful mosaic sited in front of the troughs, a wonderful piece of art for all to admire.

These days the Town Council plant them up

with seasonal flowering. A large Christmas Tree is sited and lit up annually at the Fountain to enhance the town for the festive season.
